Time Spent on CC

So, although it was probably not noticed, I've been off CC for a week. The site's great and all, but I feel like I was slightly more productive. Although like an addiction, it's sorta hard to break, but after day 1, I forgot all about CC, and didnt even realize it had been a week. So do you think that your time is spent wisely here or not? Has anyone here ever tried to go a certain amount of time without CC?

Lmao I went a month without CC. And no I think my time would have been better spent by playing a game. At least this college website really open my eyes.

This website does more harm than good in most cases.
People see AP filled schedules and try to compete with it , people see a comment that a 3.4 gpa should go to a CC so they get stressed and so on and so forth

I was gone for a 2 month period.

One person noticed. And made a thread about it.

:)

Idk I feel like I’m not gonna be daily user anymore lol.

^ Me too. I’m really getting bored on CC.

I agree with Weeknd. I don’t think extensive use of this site has much value.

I know I’m kind of a hypocrite, considering that I joined this month and already have 236 posts, but I’m quickly getting bored and my level of use will likely drop off soon. The only reason I still use it at all is that I’m following a thread I’ve started and a PM conversation - and, of course, while nothing’s happening in either of those areas, I wander around the forum.

These forums get better during the school year, right now its just 500 SCHEDULE HELP threads.

^lol yeah exactly :stuck_out_tongue:
I’m one of the most active users on this forum, and I do feel as if there are many benefits to it. I won’t go into them now because it’s later and I should be wroking on geometry but there are benefits

I really starting to dislike CC. But it’s seriously my daily trend. Click Facebook, click CC, check mail, repeat.

It’s like planned and I have no control over it.

■■■

my inability to leave CC is causing my downfall. ;D

I would spend more time on CC if it became more “personal”. Like I feel like that we aren’t allowed to show personality at all. We all have to remain in the walls of a very narrow hall, its so ugh…but whatever.

@IceQube Lol I remember that thread! Wasn’t it something like “Where are you IceQube?” Aww back when CC had personality.

@OP I spend a bit of time on here. If it wasn’t my senior year I would have probably quit CC since its become so dull. Lol I even miss the creepy trolls. :P

In the beginning all this stuff is SO helpful. I mean, I have a financial predicament on my hands, and I feel pressured to find a way to pay for school myself. And with family (grandparents, cousins, great uncles and aunts) going to schools like Yale, Harvard, Emory, UPenn etc. I wanted to go to a school of that stature aswell (and because I feel/felt that I am extremely intelligent, and should shoot for the best. Not trying to sound cocky or anything, but I felt like anything I tried to do, I could succeed at with enough effort). Schools like that run about 40 grand + a year, and I know my single mother wouldnt be able to afford that (but makes to much to really get anything from financial aid.).

So, when I got to highschool, I was like, here is the beginning of the rest of my life, and I have to make the right decisions to succeed in it. Going to sites like these, knowing what colleges look for, what grades are good what the ‘perfect’ student is. Knowing all these things may not make me the perfect student, but it puts me at a better chance of getting full rides or large scholarships. My own view of college and how to get there was really tarnished by my family, seeing as my sister who has failed multiple classes, who never does homework, who missed school excessively can get into all the colleges she applies to and get on top of that 65k worth of scholarships! My mother was a B student with not real ECs and got into both her dream schools. I realize I dont have to be perfect to accomplish what I want, but having good grades, and striving for the best will increase my chances of accomplishment a boat load.

I will say though, after a while, it might do a little more damage then good in some cases. But people should know themselves, and the work they’re willing to put forth, and their own ability. I dont think comparing yourself to course-filled AP students is a bad thing, they might just be your competition at some college in the next few years. But I must stress that you need to know how your courseloads compare (like in my school system, if your in honors in 7th grade, you’re automatically put in Algebra I in 8th grade, and most honor students (90%) take AP English when junior and senior year come. Its just the path honors kids take, and its probably different at other schools and in other systems).

I feel that CC is only harmful (making people stressed about AP classes) if you allow yourself to be stressed by it. You sort of have to accept that there are some people who take more/get higher scores/etc. and just accept it and not stress.

How are you one of the most active users on the forum if you only have 11 posts? Do you have another account?

@Teaspoons
You’d be surprised how good the financial aid is at highly ranked schools like the ones you’ve laid down. The only way I can see it truly not working out is if your mother gets fired/laid-off from her high-paying job after the cutoff date (I don’t remember what it’s called) for income brackets being recorded; this would mean that she wouldn’t have a lot of money AND she wouldn’t get much financial aid.

^Posts on High School Life, College Life, and the Parent Cafe are not added to your post count.

Oh. 10char

haha never been a daily user and didnt start using this till I was in college

I dunno, I cruise HSL and the rest of this place for like 30 minutes/day, if that.

Really only HSL keeps my interest daily, the rest I look in if i’m looking specifically for it.

Im literally on here all day

Whoa I thought CL and PF posts counted?
