Tips for High School

Is there anything that you regret doing (or not doing) during your high school years? Or maybe just some good advice?

Share it here :)

Post stories, advise, humor, warnings, etc.

This is something I want new people to do: STOP WALKING SLOWLY IN THE HALLWAY. STOP STANDING IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY HALLWAY. I have places to get and I will not hesitate to accidentally-on-purpose smack you with my backpack.

i hate nerds with there big-ass backpacks always hitting you in the halls when you are trying to talk to a girl at there locker.

Freshmen SHOULD absolutely NEVER stand in the middle of hall!

haha I’ll make sure to NOT do that me = freshie

Try to avoid procrastinating…but you won’t be able to :D

No rolling backpacks. They are obnoxious, in everyone’s way, and I tripped over one when I was 12 and I have had a hatred for them ever since.

Do not be a wallflower. Trust me, even if you suck at dancing, at least do something or at least intentionally do a ridiculous looking dance. You’ll have fun.

Don’t worry too much about what others think, but don’t completely disregard people’s feelings either. Just be independent and do what you want to do, but don’t be a jerk.

DO NOT PROCRASTINATE

And yeah, don’t stand in the hallway :)

Thanks guys :P

I do not have a rolling backpack :P

Don’t be afraid to try new things, and don’t be afraid to go after certain goals.

Don’t procrastinate, don’t be lazy, don’t be antisocial.

I fixed the last one in the second half of my high school career but the first two always haunted me.

I would recommend doing a sport. The only thing I would change about my hs career is not having done a sport. =)

ahh I see  thanks guys. I appreciate, and I’m sure other freshman would too.

Good thing I decided to continue with tennis. I seriously thought about quitting to focus heavily on acting and performing.

I transferred into my current high school half-way into freshmen year. My old school was a school that didn’t offer any AP or honors courses…
My biggest regret in High school is that I’m not in Pre-cal or AP chem.

don’t be afraid to join clubs

reach out and see what interests you

I didn’t join many clubs my freshman year…stayed in my comfort zone. It’s prob what I regret now.

Get good grades! You know how they always say it counts? It really does. It could determine the rest of your life, such as whether you go to a good college or go live in a slum.

Although, on the fun side, join a class full of seniors and other upperclassmen freshman year. Good times :)

What Binders said was totally true, push yourself Freshmen year. I coasted that year and ended with a 3.0. Dosn’t sound too bad but if I want to end hs with the best possible grades id only have a 3.87

I’m feeling like I’m “coasting” with an 3.6. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good grade, but I feel like my peers (who are as smart as I am, max.), are getting better grades (94-97). I think I can do better… I’m going to work SUPER hard the next 2 trimesters to make up for my fairly okay 1st trimester.

I’m joining lots of clubs :)

Don’t hook up with an older guy. No matter how alluring he may be. It just does not work.

^Trimesters? You’re pregnant? LOL

*Be as social as possible. I regret spending many lonely Friday and Saturday nights alone when I could of been having the time of my life.

*Don’t procrastinate. Easier said than done, but the rare (and I do mean rare) times I did my projects and papers early, it felt so good relaxing while my classmates went into panic mode.

*Do some ECs. Join GSA, Spanish Club, Band, continue tennis, Book Club, whatever you’re interested in, do it. IT looks great on college apps and you’ll have a great time and meet people with similar interests.

*Don’t be afraid to try new things. Don’t do things you might regret like get drunk or hop from relationship to relationship; try things that may be out of your comfort zone a little. You might uncover a part of you you never knew about.

*Stay out of drama. Rumors, gossip, grudges, enemies, they may sound important then but you may look back the next year and say, “I can’t believe I acted like that!” It’s a waste of time and unnecessary stress in your life.

*Be the real you. Don’t sacrifice your dignity, morals, or reputation to gain approval from anyone. You should never let anyone manipulate you for any reason.

*And like everyone else, DON’T SUDDENLY STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HALLWAY TO TALK TO YOUR FRIENDS WHEN PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO GET TO THEIR CLASSES! And then people have the audacity to get angry when someone hits them with their bookbag when passing by.

BRING YOUR OWN LUNCH !

coz my school are only pre-packed frozen food - they will then be reheated when served. Argh! Terrible! I wonder how many calories do we consume only in lunch! (always pizzas, chicken nuggets, hotdogs, nachos, spaghetti, and chicken hamburgers)
