Next year, (junior year) I’m going to be taking AP U.S. History/Spanish Language/Psychology. I feel pretty confortable in Spanish language since I’ve been taking Spanish for about 4 years now and the teacher is amazing, and I’ve heard around school that psychology is super easy to get an A in and is considered to be one of the easier APs. I’m most concerned about APUSH. I heard it’s a lot of information and has a extremely heavy course load, which I’m prepared for, I’m just wondering if anyone has any tips for someone who has never taken ANY AP courses? The closest to AP I’ve taken was Pre-AP Spanish 3. Thanks!
3 APs isn’t too bad of a shift as long as you’ve been taking all honors classes. My sophomore year I took 3 APs for the first time: euro, Calc AB, and psych, and I did fine. I’ve heard hard things abt Spanish but I’ve always struggled with languages so I didn’t take it and can’t offer you advice, but if you’re confident in your Spanish skills you will be fine. Psych is definitely an easy AP so don’t worry abt that. I’m taking apush and 5 other APs this year, and while apush is easy content wise, it does have a lot of reading and work involved. Don’t get behind on readings and ask the teacher whenever you need help understanding specific events or trends. There are various videos online that help too. AP prep books are also nice for quick reading review the night before tests. Don’t stress so much about AP classes. They are only different because they involve more work, not harder difficulty. You sound like you have asked around and done your research, and you seem like a smart and rational student. You will be fine
APUSH is the usually the first AP for sophomore in my D’s school. AP Psycho is considered one of the easiest AP. For AP Spanish, it really depends on you and your teacher. You may want to ask him/her the average score of previous students. My D2 also took 3 AP in junior this year: AP Chem, AP Gov, and AP English, but she has taken APUSH last year. It is certainly manageable.
