My D, who is attending school 3,000 miles away, will be returning home for the summer and is very anxious to make some money this summer. :) My husband and I both attended college near our hometowns, so we worked year-round and never hand any personal experience with this type of job-hunting. Any tips on what kind of jobs are most likely to hire summer-only help, and more importantly, how my D might go about applying when she knows that she will only be able to keep the job for 3-4 months? She has done paid research work before, and also worked in retail over the holidays, but she really wants to get a restaurant job where she might also earn some tips. For some reason, I keep thinking it's going to be difficult for her to find anything as soon as potential employers find out that she goes to school on the other side of the country, and will obviously have to quit the job at the end of the summer. Perhaps I am thinking that this is more of a liaiblity than it actually is, since most kids her age, even if they attend college locally, don't stick in any one job for all that long anyway? Any real-life experience would be much-appreciated!
