I’m a perspective washu student and am seriously considering applying ED here. I’ve seen rankings that rank WUSTL as the most stressful college in the U.S. In your opinion, if I’m not planning to do engineering or premed, is washu really that stressful/cutthroat and hard to succeed at? From what I’ve seen, people are really happy and collaborative. Thanks in advance.
I’m not sure what your source is on that, but that hasn’t been my experience at all. There is stress, but any college experience will involve stress as long as take challenging classes and care about doing well. I have experienced ups and downs at Wash U, but overall have had a very positive experience. My classes have always been manageable, and my professors have all been understanding and willing to work with their students to help them succeed. In general, students are collaborative and want to help each other, even in the lower level “weeder” pre-med courses.
What’s your prospective major? That could affect your level of stress.
Thanks. I would either study economics in college of arts in sciences or do a bs at Olin.
Totally concur with Sungoose. Our student works very hard (STEM major) but really enjoys the collaborative environment at WUSTL. They just opened a brand new student fitness center that is world class – its focus is on addressing “stress” and promoting healthy life styles. School promotes many activities to build community spirit. Professors are very approachable and willing to work with students.
