1]what is the liberal arts and science study about?
all i know is that you declare your major after 2 years.
2]but what about other people who have declared the same major in their freshman years only and have 2 years of more studying in that field?
3]also after doing that u can get only for eg. BS[bachelor in science] degree instead of BE[bachelor in engineering]. are the two courses equally respected and can they get equally good jobs?
4] my counsellor said that if I take this ocurse then I cannot do engg/med/ law.
but then again harvey mudd, and LAc, offers engineering?
what is happening????????????
5]
should i declare my major now only and then change it if I dont like it.. although I dont have a clue what I want to do..
i am really confused..

Students at US colleges and universities can declare their majors anytime from the first day of class to probably the last day of their second year. Students who take a wide variety of classes in their first two years usually have enough time to fulfill the course requirements for a major in the remaining two years. However if you are trying to switch schools (for example. going from arts and sciences to engineering), this is much more challenging. If you know you want to study engineering then you probably need to declare this early as there are very few schools where you can start out studying one subject area and then switch to engineering (Tufts comes to mind as a place where you could do something like that). The more technological a major the greater the need to make sure you take all the necessary prerequisites so you can graduate in four years. There is no need to declare your major right now if you are going to have a major in the arts and sciences. since you are confused about career plans why not take a variety of courses and see what fits you best.

I am a little confused. What course are you referring to when you say that your counselor states that you cannot do eng/med/law? Is your counselor saying that you should not go to a "liberal arts college" because you will not be able to study engineering? If that is what the counselor is saying then you are correct in pointing out that some liberal arts colleges offer engineering. IN addition many students from liberal arts colleges go to medical school and law school. So can you be more specific regarding the course the counselor is referring to?

my counsellor says that when u chose a liberal arts study course, then you cannot major in engg/law/medical.

also does getting a BS degree rather than a BE degree in say computirs change your chances of getting a job?

In the US you cannot major at the undergraduate level in law or medicine. You need to go to law school or medical school after college. There are some liberal arts colleges where you can major in engineering such as Tufts in Boston and harvey Mudd in California. I don't think there is much difference in a BE or a BS, but I don't know that for sure.

thanks guys!1
