To Harvard Students: Are there a lot of runners at Harvard?

It snowed early yesterday. :)

well...I'm from arizona, but I'm dealing with the weather running-wise.

in fact, I think the whole "omg, the weather is so terrible...I can't survive!" thing is mostly talk. winter is fun.

I run. I'm going to Harvard next year. I'm honestly not sure how much of a hook running a marathon is; one of my friends has run 6-7 and he's 17. He just decided one weekend during cross country to run one, and he liked it.

Top girls XC results (mostly confirms what people have been saying):

shark bite, I think the interesting side of your marathon is that it sounds like you had fun partaking in an event that ended up being "dirty", but you could make a lot of topics from a marathon.

ya, I know I'm not that competitive a runner, 5:32 1-mile and around 11:45 2-mile

OMGGGGGGG i just wrote like a paragraph and then accidently hit back and lost it all!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHH!!!!!! ussually that doesn happen i dont know why it did this time!

basically what i said was that 5:32 is a very good time, it is very competative.

also i said that CortezTheKillar's friend should ease up or he is going to hurt himself. I know 2 guys that cant run for 2-3 years because they over did the marathon thing. I also asked his friend got prepared so fast, i mean it is reccomened you take no less than 6 months preparing. even if you factor in how much he had been running, it would take 2-3 months to get ready. you cant just decide to be in a marathon one day. i mean you have to sign up months in advance (i think i signed up for chicago 6 months before the race)

another thing i was kinda wondering, in a total non accusatory and friendly tone, did your friend perhaps run a half-marathon? a marathon is 26.2 miles, while a half marathon is 13.1 miles (duh lol) it doesnt seem possible for a kid, or anyone really to run that many marathons in 2 years. (the min age req is 16 yrs at some and 18 at most) it is much more likely to run that he ran many 1/2 marathons, especially with that xc backround. during my training, i ran a 1/2 marathon on all my long days which came out to at least a 1/2 marathon every other week. i dont want to sound discouraging or anything, but running a half marathon is a cinch once you start practicing, its the 2nd half that gets you during the real thing.

of course if your friend actually has run 6-7 full length marathons, then dang! i am extremely impressed. still he should ease up or he will hurt himself.
