To marry or not / financial aid

Someone help!! I am new to this site. My daughter just graduated and is on her way to college in the fall. My boyfriend (of 4 years) and I really want to get married, but I am afraid of what it will do to my daughters financial aid. Child support has stopped now that she graduated, and her biological father is not helping with college at all. I know I have to report step-parent income on the FAFSA, and I am very afraid of our marriage plans messing up her financial aid. I am torn. It isnt fair to her to mess with her financial aid, and it is not fair to him not to marry him!! Help!! Did marriage mess up anyone's kids financial aid?? and how bad? (I know, of course, it depends on the income-we are middle class!!) Any input will be appreciated!!

Run the financial aid numbers as married and unmarried and see what the difference is.

the fafsa will count both your and your new husband’s income when calculating the EFC.

At Profile schools, they will still ask for you new husband’s information in addition to your ex husband’s financial information, regardless of whether or not the father wants to pay for college.

Some schools will use your new husband’s financial infomation to the extent which you have benefitted from the marriga and some shools will consider all of the income as different schools have different answers
