What are the SONA systems? Is it a means for undergraduates to participate in research with professors, or is it just a fancy name for signing up for experimentation? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I’m not a psych major but I’ve taken a few psych classes. I’m pretty sure SONA is just a means of signing up for experiments and either getting class credit/money for participating. That’s all I’ve ever used it for, at least.
So basically, it’s for people who want to be human guinea pigs? @Ranza123
Some of the experiments are just online surveys that are pretty quick and easy! If your professor lets you (and every psych professor I’ve had so far has) then you can get credit for it, which usually translates into points on the final exam or even your final grade.
I agree with Ranza123. They may have other types of experiments, I can’t say for sure, but the only ones I participated in were the surveys.
Our psych professor allowed us to do it and receive credit toward our final grade. It only allowed us something like 5 points, but you never know if you might need it or not. It’s a pretty nice (and easy) option, so I just thought of it like a savings account that you use only in the case of an emergency.
