Also, do you like quarter systems, or would you rather have your school switch to the semester system?

I actually like the quarter system, but my school is changing the system to semesters in a couple of years. I like how quick everything goes, and how you can take more classes. If you hate a class, you only have it for ten weeks!

On the down side, everything goes by a little too quickly sometimes.

Next quarter, I'm taking Human Anatomy, Chinese, and History of African Civilizations!

The big minus is that some classes are definitely taken at a faster pace and thus are not as in-depth or rigorous. Notice I said, some, not all. Those classes where rigour and in-depth review of material are a MUST are often split into multiple classes. My school is also going to switch in a year and I’ll be right in the middle of the switch which I am NOT repeat NOT looking forward to.

Not sure what I’m taking next term. I do like quarters over semesters though. Yeah, things go quickly (as in there’s no week to get adjusted) but it’s good cause I can’t take one class for 15 weeks anyway. If you’re taking a boring class or gen-ed it’s over with quicker.
Bad: Transferring sucks cause you lose so many credits.

I LOVE THE QUARTER SYSTEM!
Honestly the fast pace makes me work harder. If things were extended over 15 weeks I wouldn’t work as much. The only annoying thing is breaks don’t really coincide with everyone else. Going back at the end of September will probably be a pain.
This quarter I’m taking
Music Theory, Aural Skills, Keyboard Skills, a class for 2 piano 4 hand pieces, Expository Writing, Honors Linear Algebra/Multivariable Calculus, Applied Piano, Intro to Computer Programming.
As you might have guessed, I’m a piano performance major. Possibly math as well.

I love the quarter system myself.
If you hate a class, ten weeks it’s done. If you like a professor, you can just take him/her again.
You have more flexibility to squeeze more classes in there.
You’ll never have homework over a break.
The only draw back is our school year starts in september and ends in june.

Just a different opinion- one of the main reasons I’m turning down a college is the quarter system. I just don’t like all the extra classes it seems like I would be taking- and taking some classes for longer than I would… (if it’s two quarters, that’s longer than the one semester at another college). Also, for safeties sake, if I do have to transfer, I don’t want to lose all the credits. Just my honest opinion, take it for a grain of salt if you wish.

soz, your opinion points don’t make much sense. I like the quarter system for technical hands on based programs (think Calpoly style) and semester system for sequential year long academics. Calc I and II (or western civ or Physics or Chem I and II) in semester rather than Calc/physics/chem 1a,b, and c and d in quarter. I prefer to take the tough science classes in semester so still have 4 classes rather than 2 hard @ 5 units and 1 reg in semester with more time to study over doing. I find stand alone subjects like stats, speech, econ, soc, anthro, and art are better to knock out in a quarter system since can ultimately knock out a few extra classes a year that way.

Spring quarter classes:

F/TV The Role of the Media Producer 4 units
F/TV Lighting for Film and Television 4 units
F/TV Studio and Remote Audio Production 4 units
F/TV Basic Techniques of Animation: 3D 4 units

I don’t know about you overachievers but this is enough to keep me constantly busy
