it bugs me that they wrote out all the semis together rather than splitting ind. and team

Ooh...I can't wait for next weekend!

Last year they called the team leader (not me), he called me to tell me, I ran around cuz I was happy, and then 2 minutes later they called me.

Ahhh good times I wish I could relive...

Good luck to everyone for Regional Finalist results. Be sure to post online if you get a call in advance. I know the feeling zogoto. These science competitions are awesome.

i hope they don't call this year. i prefer the check slowly online and hit refresh 5 times approach.

zogoto how did you do this year? Did you enter as a team again or as an individual this time? And do you know what the special package from the Siemens foundation for the semifinalists is?

I got semis this year. I'm a team again (unfortunately). I don't know waht the package for semis are. Last year I got a backpack, umbrella, and digital camera at regional finals, and thought it was just for reginoal finals, but apparently all the semis got backpacks too.

By the way, I think the calls are staggered so if you don't get one the first day don't feel too bad. I think they call them over a 2-3 span and people who are will compete on the first day (nov 4-5) will get called first.

why do u say unfortunately, zogoto? isn't the competition less stiff for team competition?

Record number 1684 students registered.

Wow...where'd you find that information? (just wondering)

Looking at the number of semis from my region (about 63), there are two possibilities: there is a significantly larger number of individual semis or there are fewer than 50 projects.

Congratulations to everyone who made it! I, of course, did not, but it's ok. Good luck next week!

Pizer says 335 semis, so yes that's possible.

"Wow...where'd you find that information? (just wondering)"

i got a letter from siemens today in the mail.

:( oh well, i guess it's time to work on intel now. good luck to semis though! i guess my research isnt that great. anyone know of any other competitions for research aside from siemens/intel/chicago jshs thing? not fairs, but paper comps?

how do u sign up for jshs?

Hopeful4cornell, what did the letter say? (We're so obsessed!)

it said congrats.. this year marked highest students (1684).. caliber of entries is the highest in originality and complexity we have ever seen since inception of the competition.

second paragraph: blah blah.. ur semifinalist ranking clearly demonstrates that u are an exception student - creative, competitive and brilliant- ones of the future leaders of American science & eng. full page ad on oct. 25th edition of USA Today. blah blah

third paragraph: we will send random stuff like a banner to our high school to display number of semifinalists at schooll.. gift package of random stuff(didn't specify)

fourth paragraph: plug for the competition.. we are most challenging and prestigious research-based hs science contest in the U.S thanks to u guys

signed by chairman of siemens foundation

Thanks for sticking that up there.

Why did not everyone get a letter?
