oh i sure hope the same...that would be too awesome!

Everyone that gets called, please post it here!

From what I've heard from people who made finalist before, that's not going to happen - SW wants to preserve confidentiality until the announcement.

are you guys doing intel sts? looks like a college app to me so ill pass.

Yeah i am. It's more prestigious than siemens westinghouse and has more money attached (all semis get $1000!).

Yeah, I want that $1000 cash.

When do you think West and Southwest finalists are called?

When I asked the lady simply replied, "shortly before the announcement is made" so that they would have more than 4 days to prepare for regionals (5, I guess?)
I'm guessing that they'll call Friday or Saturday night.

Yeah, if we are called we barely have time to prepare. I don't want to prepare right now since I don't want to feel a big letdown if I don't get called. Are any of the West/Southwest finalists on here to let us know?

As for the confidentiality- I know it's wrong to break the agreement- but I think we can work around that- instead of announcing "So-and-so made it!" just post "calls have been made." I don't think they'd dq you if you just let others know that Westinghouse has called people.

I'm hoping for tonight- I don't think I'll get called, though.

Dude, I mean I doubt I'll make it, but you never know. I'm sitting here, the phone rings, and I'm like, "Oh my gosh, it's THEM!" Actually, it was just a pre-recorded phone call for a political something or other. Darn.

what regions are you all from?

actually, I believe finalists are asked not to even share that calls have been made, but I could be wrong.

the southwest and west region calls were made last saturday, sunday, monday, so the people have been called....yea...kind of a bummer...

How do you know?

a few (4 people) of my friends from cali and texas told me

So who on this board knows if they're regional finalists? (don't answer!)

Hey! I took the liberty of checking my mailbox(I live in a boarding school, so I don't usually do this), and I got this letter from Siemens about participation.

w00t!

I know, not much, but it feels really good to know that at least my project made it to a panel of judges too look at. At least I did the paper work!

Good Luck to all Semifinalists!

if the west and southwest were called last week, do you all think that the other regions will be called this weekend, or just posted on the site?

They'll be called.

I didn't make it :(

Didn't make it- for everyone who did- congratulations.

One of only about 300 nationwide? Don't shortchange yourself, guys- semifinalist is still a dam.n fine job. There's always STS- there's still 3 weeks before the deadline. If you made it as an individual to semis in the westinghouse- you were one of about 100-150. STS picks 300 individuals!

Even if you weren't selected as a semifinalist- be proud of your contributions to knowledge.

Better get started on my STS essays!
