Today's SAT Question of the Day..

The Official SAT Question of the Day™

I do not understand this! It sounds completely wrong... I've never heard of "Just as... so..."

Shouldn't it be "Just as machinery was integral to the development of industrial capitalism, the rapid transfer of information is the force driving modern business." ?

It sounds wrong when you rely on your ear. That's one thing you should avoid. I guess it's grammatically correct in some sense.

"Just as...so..." is something the College Board really, really likes. I've seen it on numerous SAT tests. Whenever you see it, choose it. No need to look at any other answer choices. The CB just LOVES it that much.

Really? It sounded correct to me...

The sentence is comparing two fragments; only "just as" works.

Just as + so sounds right to me. Just remember that it is correct :)

Ok then, I'll just assume it's right, no questions asked. I was just confused because I've never heard, or seen this in any literature etc. o_O

That question is comparing first part with second part with the so indicating that both of them happened. Just as is the only thing that works.
