Too early for chancing but still have a question...........

Hi, I am going to be a junior next year. I have already taken the following standardized tests:
AP Human Geography: 4
AP World History: 5
AP Music Theory: 5/5
SAT II World History: 800

My courseload for next year includes five AP classes in conjunction with honors physics and band. (I play oboe in class and mellophone on the marching field.) My question is, am I on the right track (certainly not judging by my human geo score but w/e) to realistically apply to schools like Yale or the University of Pennsylvania? Also, my school weights GPA's on a +/- system, where an A- is 4, A is 4.33, and A+ is 4.67. For honors classes one point is added and two points are added for AP classes. By this measure, my GPA is around a 5.7 (unweighted: 4.0). I have no idea of my class rank but it is probably somewhere in the top five percent. Thanks for your input.

Junior year matters more than frosh and sophomore year combined. Those are sick scores you got there but thats not ticket to do anything but work harder next year. There are a million other kids who have everything you have and more who will continue doing as well even if you goof off next year. However, if you continue on the path you are going as of this point I would say you would have an excellent chance at gaining admissions at any school you want.

Hi there - I'm always happy to advise a fellow rising junior. :) Anyway, it looks to me like you're definitely on the right track, at least in terms of grades and test scores - I wish my school offered so many AP's. I'm assuming you're just as dedicated to some significant extracurriculars, right? If not, you have plenty of time to get involved - band is a good start, but remember that top colleges want well-rounded students. I'm assuming you're involved in more activities than you listed, though, in which case you are definitely on the right track. Keep it up.

I think you are definitely on the right track, in terms of academics. However, getting into a college like Yale or UPenn depends a lot more than just those components. You have to show that you have things outside of class you are interested in. Of course, be sure to have good relations with your teachers and when the right time comes, write a kick butt essay ;]

Good luck!

...Is this an honest question? Do you honestly think you aren't on "track"?

With those scores and such...

Reading your post, you HONESTLY cannot tell if you aren't on track and you think you AREN'T only because you got a 4 on human geography?

I sincerely hope you weren't very serious...apologies in advance if I sounded too coarse. Did you expect anyone to say, "you aren't on track, no, you need 10 AP's."

@Invoyable: You would be surprised by some of the people at my school then, lol.

I know I thought the same thing as Invoyable..

Seriously, you are doing extremely well...keep up the academics and focus on ECs
