I am a prospective student and I am concerned that I may be too liberal for Wheaton. I am against underage drinking, illegal drugs, premarital sex, etc., and I would never do any of that stuff myself, but sometimes I wonder if it is too controlling...like they're more for the sake of thinking it's bad than just trying to watch out for kids' safety. Some of my views are more liberal, like gay marriage and abortion. Well, I don't really know my stance on gay marriage - it just seems strange to me, but who says strange is bad? Abortion is another tricky one - what about rape?

I have heard at some very liberal colleges that people walk around barefoot; to me, that's just weird, but it doesn't mean that I'm not open to it. I'm also for minorities and helping the poor, because I know that some liberals think that conservatives don't support the poor. On things like global warming, I'm indifferent.

I guess I'm moderate.....I know someone who is very conservative and she did things that bothered me, like not letting her kids read Harry Potter and really sheltering her kids from harmless stuff. That really bothers me (and now her kids all drink and one is unmarried with a kid). Maybe they're hipocrites? I'm probably the most liberal person in my family, even though my parents always vote Democratic.

I think I'm liberal in the sense that sometimes I just don't want to sugarcoat things. For example, if I ever have kids, they're going to know that Santa isn't real and I'm just not going to hide anything from them. If they wanna know something that is innappropriate, why should I not tell them? My parents were never open with me, and I don't see how sheltering kids does any good. It's not like they'll grow up to be criminals.

However, I'm conservative in the sense that I dress and act conservatively.

I'm Catholic, by the way.
