is anyone else having this problem also? i have like 15 colleges on my common app dashboard. all together its going to cost me like $1000. any tips to reduce the number of colleges?

Divide them into safety/match/reach. Then choose 1 - 2 safeties that you would be happy with and can afford, 3 - 4 matches, and 1 - 2 reaches.

For some schools there may be a free application on their website. You don’t have to apply to every on the common app. Gets you out of writing them an essay :P

Actually, I think there’s nothing wrong with 15 schools. I wouldn’t go beyond that though (unless you have a lot of free time).

Most people at my school apply to around 15, and many of them apply to more. Although I go to a magnet school where tons of people get into ivies lol but still. What difference does that make.

To each his/her own, I guess. ^^^ I just don’t see the point of applying to that many schools. IMO, a few carefully completed applications to well-chosen schools beats the scattershot method. Less expensive, less time-consuming, and it doesn’t leave the student with a boatload of acceptances that they then have to sort through.

Yes there are too many colleges.
