TOO many EC's????

Hey I was wondering if this was too many ec's and if I should quit some because I heard that if you have too many it looks like you are just padding your application:

-100 next year most likely
Working at a Medical Supplies Company
Board member of a non-profit raising thousands a year for cancer research
Event Coordinator of same non-profit

Trip to Nepal/Tibet to volunteer in a hospital
Wrote and published a paper on the medical system in Tibet

I actually have not completed a few things on the list but I am in the process of doing them so I would like any comments on whether or not these will look good on my app. If not then it would be great to get some advice. Thanks!

O'.... I have competed in Triathlons but I doubt I can put that on my resume :D

Oops, forgot to say a few things.

I am an assistant coach of a travel hockey team (unpaid)
I tutor students after school (unpaid)

In my brief experiences, I usually think someone is resume padding if they are in a million clubs, but each one meets once a week, the person is not an officer in the club, and maybe they only joined junior year. Looking at your Ec’s, you seem to do a lot, but are passionate about them. Just stick with the stuff you love and it all works out

A lot of the things you posted don’t go under the same section (in an application), and you don’t have to quit any, you just leave them off your application. Suggestions/Comments:

–Dual Enroll at University during the summer (this isn’t an EC - I’m pretty sure this would go under an academics section of some sort)

–Working at a Medical Supplies Company (Do you really work there? Or do you just show up every once in a while. I would leave it off if the latter applies)

–Event Coordinator of same non-profit (this doesn’t need it’s own space - just say that you are a board member/event coordinator o__O )

–I think your ec’s are well-coordinated, but not omg fantabulous. It’s very clear what major/profession you want to pursue. etc etc etc :D

eta: Oh yeah, and I agree with ^that kid

Here’s the thing: If you start aggressively pursuing your ECs beyond the school level, you’re not going to have time to be a member of all those clubs; some will naturally fall off your list. If you’re only showing up to meetings, whether you’re an officer or not, you can easily balance all of those clubs, assuming you have the time to go to all those meetings–but you’re not going to impress anyone. So look for ways to take an interest to the next level, and let those ECs that aren’t going anywhere take a backseat. (You can stay a member if you enjoy them but not put it on your apps–I did that for a few clubs I went to for the food/friends.)

@polymath: Thanks a lot, none of the clubs i am in are just filler I quit those ones awhile ago to make up some time for things that I am really interested in.

@supergrover: Yes I know that most of the things don’t go under EC’s, I definitely should have specified that I meant all activities outside of school. For the medical supplies co. I work there sparingly during the school year but in the summer I usually spend at least three days a week working 9-5 so I think that is worthwhile for mentioning? I don’t really know though. And yeah haha I am extremely interested in science with a passion for medicine so I hope that shines through my activities. I know a lot of kids at my school are involved in a bunch of different things that have no correlation but they think it will get them into extremely prestigious schools.

@glasses: thanks for the advice, I am doing pretty well with handling everything now but I realize that soon I will have to push some clubs back in order to make way for more time-consuming ones.
