Too Many SAT IIs? such a thing?

Dilemma: sending multiple, say 5 or 6, SAT IIs VS sending in the requested 2 or 3?

Assume all scores 780+

it will make you look like someone without a life. it shows that you’re trying too hard to impress.

^ Or on the other hand of the spectrum, it could just show that you are very academically inclined. Of course, as IBfootballer said, there is a bigger chance that you’ll be interpreted as a kid with no life. But your teacher/counselor recs would also testify whether you truly are a soul-less student or a brilliant contribution to the classroom and the community. So, if you took the time to study and ace those subject tests, I would send them if I were in your situation.*

would it, by any chance, counter my lack of AP scores?

Does your school offer APs? If it does, then not taking the courses or tests won’t help you.

^ Agreed. Subject tests are no means of AP substitution if you were given the opportunity of taking the AP courses.

My school doesn’t offer many, many AP courses, especially in the subjects I’m interested in. (that is, I had the option of taking 2 science APs but instead took only 1 b/c I don’t intend to major in science. Rather, I took another language as I wish to become a linguistics major.) would that, then, show I am not necessarily dodging (/failing to maximize my number of) AP classes, but rather taking the classes I enjoy, which is certainly more important?

THANKS

How many APs does it offer? 5, 10, 20?

No such thing as too many SATIIs, but since most schools only ask for 0-3, then the extra time and expense could be unnecessary. D has taken 5, but each has its purpose. Since D was (and is) undecided about what major to pursue, she wanted to be able to show her abilities in a variety of areas, as well as establish language proficiency. Therefore, D has taken 1 language SAT, 1 liberal arts SAT, 2 science SATs and Math 2.

Spatula: My school offers a total of about 10 APs, 2 of which are offered to juniors. I PLAN on taking 6 APs next year (=v. difficult, if not even a bit excessive, at my school), but “plan to take” does not = “taken,” …so would colleges not consider them at the same level?

dignified1: I’m afraid I am missing that “1 liberal arts SAT,” since I’ve taken 2 language, 2 science, and math II. however, I doubt it’s worth taking, say, SAT Lit…

^You seem to know what you want to study (languages) and seem to have the SAT IIs to back that up. No need, in my opinion, to take anymore.
