Too Spiked??

I’m really interested in journalism, and have had my writing published on the national stage, including the front page of HuffPo, New York Times, and an organization I write for (has 3 million members). I’m currently conducting research on first-year composition textbooks, and have received funding and support from the nation’s largest publishing company and professors from top 30 colleges, in addition to being accepted to present my research at a national conference. I also write for a college newspaper (where I dual enroll) and founded my high school’s literary publication. I’ve competed in speech and debate for the last 3 years (I’m a junior) and have competed at Nationals twice. SAT: 1570/1600. GPA: 4.0.
Am I too focused on English/Journalism–and not well rounded enough? Do colleges view applications who are too spiked in a negative light??

Be prepared to supply written evidence of your accomplishments.

@roycroftmom is providing the links to my NYT op-ed, HuffPost articles, and other work sufficient??

Lol, if this is for real you will have no problem going anywhere… Why even go honestly? Just something to think about.

Having a “spike” is no issue. I’ve heard college admissions officers say that they look to create a well rounded class – and that class will include a number of well rounded individuals and a number of individuals who have different talents/passions (or as you say, spikes).

Some applicants are very spiked, some are well-rounded. It just depends on the kind of person you are. Neither category is better than the other. Just do what you love and do it well, as you clearly have! I would say that this is no problem.

I am sure it should not be a problem to print the articles in hard copy.
