Top 10 Business Schools

Nowhere, you said top 10.

USC (Marshall) ranks 21 for Full-time MBA, 19 for undergrad business.

wow, all this time i thought usc was among top 10!

Also-be careful comparing starting salaries when there has been no attempt to normalize them geographically. 80K in rural Tennessee is more than equivalent to 100K in New York City.

yep.

also be careful, i don't think that average starting salary includes bonus, which in the most lucrative job fields (banking) comprises well over half of total compensation.

In SoCal it's arguably top dawg.

Before ranking based on salary, you'll need to adjust for cost of living and such. I have difficulty believing that a Stanford MBA is worth $20k more than a Wharton MBA. And look at the cost of living in Palo Alto and Silicon Valley (assuming that they stay in this area) -- that would jack up the salaries.

For Undergrad, USNWR says USC is #9.

Do you mean EARNING 80k = over 100k in NY (what?)
or
the VALUE of 80k = over 100k in NY?

The latter would make more sense, but you could say that applies to just about anywhere (that money is worth more/less in different places)

I believe he means that someone earning 80k in Tennessee is no less well off than someone earning 100k in NYC. But applying that logic to grad schools is flawed, because it assumes that someone graduating from Tennessee is actually going to stay in Tennessee.

^^ well, it really depends on where they go. I have a feeling that many of Stanford's MBA grads are going to stay at least in the general region. NYU grads are more likely to stay in New York. You see the trend.

Forbes rankings are based on alumni investment return, adjusted for cost-of-living expenses (which was a concern some of you pointed out) and some other considerations[/url</a>]. The WSJ ranking, on the other hand, is based on recruiter surveys as explained here[/url</a>].</p>

As are the Financial Times rankings. What a joke.

Many people consider the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania to be the best program for undergraduate business in the entire country (some say by a sizable margin). When it comes to job recruitment, a Wharton degree is said to help a lot. Also, New York University, UC Berkeley, and U.Va (the Commerce School is considered especially good in finance) are considered top-notch.

Barq, Wharton is definitely in a league of its own where BBAs are concerned. But don't forget Sloan (MIT) and Ross (Michigan). They are considered on par with Haas, McIntire and Stern.

To my salary point, take a look at this blog
