um… bump??

1) Thank You for Arguing
2) Animal Farm
3) A Confederacy of Dunces
4) Julius Caesar (Cassius was my man!)
5) Mockingbird

On a side note, my entire class has a colossal hatred towards Virginia Wolfe after being forced to read “A Room of ones own”. We even have a game dedicated to her, it’s called Drown the Wolfe. Google her, and you will find out how dark and twisted that name for the game is.

I still haven’t read Catcher in the Rye (but I’m supposed to start next week :D!) or any senior books but so far:
5.Lord of the Flies
4.Romeo and Juliet
3.The Odyssey
2.Night
1.The Great Gatsby

Just for the halibit I’ll put my 4 least favorite books as well
4. In Another Country (Hemingway short story)
3. Don Quixote (excerpt)
2. Huck Finn (some parts I liked, others were torture)

5) A Passage to India which I read for an Asian Studies class

Worst book: Bless Me, Ultima, which was hilarious and spawned like 100000 inside jokes in this class on Mexican culture

aw i liked a portrait of the artist as a young man too :).

The worst book I ever had to suffer to was a piece called How to Read Literature Like a Professor, which was assigned along with 2 other books for summer reading for AP Lit. It was an awful, boring book full of complete BS. And I’m now certain that I NEVER want to read literature the way a professor does.

^ We had to read that as well. Not a fun summer reading assignment…

My top 5 favorites from AP Lang/AP Lit, in no particular order:
- The Great Gatsby
- The Awakening
- Into the Wild
- Grendel
- The Scarlet Letter

Top 5
Black Boy (10th)
To Kill a Mockingbird (10th)
The Great Gatsby (10th)
A Choice of Weapons (9th)
The Odyssey (9th)

Worst book I’ve read so far for English is probably a tie between The Scarlet Letter (summer reading) and Romeo and Juliet (only because the teacher forced our class to act and read it out-loud)
Honorable Mention - Ulysses is the worst book I’ve ever read, but it wasn’t required (extra credit in 10th grade English)

I liked almost every book I read in 10th grade. These include:
The Great Gatsby
Of Mice and Men
To Kill A Mockingbird
The Crucible
The Old Man and the Sea
Slaughterhouse Five

and a bunch more I’m forgetting right now. I just loved that class overall though.

My favorite book I’ve read this year (AP Lang) though is hands down Into the Wild. Most people in my class didn’t like it but I absolutely loved it.

Into the Wild was pretty good.

I love The Old Man and the Sea! I read it for my own enjoyment.

Right now in class we’re reading All the Pretty Horses by Cormac McCarthy. I LOVE McCarthy’s writing style, and it’s a really great story, although it’s a bit depressing. The Road, also by him, is one of my absolute favorites.

Crime and Punishment
Lord of the Flies
Brave New World
The Kite Runner
The Book Thief

The Catcher in the Rye

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest

The Great Gatsby

Madame Bovary

Pride and Prejudice

The Great Gatsby

In Cold Blood

The Scarlett Letter

Lord of the Flies

The Heart is a Lonely Hunter

As far as the worst go…
- My Antonia
- As I Lay Dying
- Black Boy

Most of the ones that I read were in 11th grade since I’m in AP English Lit.
- Catcher in the Rye
- Of Mice and Men
- Catch-22
- To Sir, With Love (10th grade)
- Hamlet (in my opinion, the best Shakespearean play I’ve read.)
