Top 50 Colleges in America (undisputable ranking)

wisconsin?? surely you jest.

All I can say is that the list is just horrible. Many of those schools are crap. So many that should be there.

does peer assessment rankings factor into this at all? Wisconsin would rank 20th overall if it were just up to peer assessment with its 4.2

Where is Harvey Mudd?

Harvey Mudd should make the list before wisconsin.

What is wrong with UW in your opinion? Not enough good faculty--no, they get as many major awards as any public and most privates.
Facilities not good--nope, 8,000,000 volumes in the libraries and all sorts of trick labs and equipment including telescopes all world.
Research not well funded--nope over $800 million
Student;faculty ratio bad--no 13:1. is good for a large school.
Ugly campus in crappy city--nope.
Bad social life--Hah

I think Harvey Mudd = almost around Olin (Engineering) status. If you want you can put Olin on there instead.

Great if you want engineering. Way too narrow to be a top school.

Washu doesn't belong on the list

Lol. No, your perception of Harvey Mudd is completely skewed. HMC is not a tech school that just teaches you subject matter; It teaches you how to solve problems, no matter what they are.

Schools like HMC destroy you and then rebuild you. The white hair (they have given me) is a fair exchange for the thoroughness of education I have received thus far.

numberone, if your going to say theres alot of schools that don't belong to be in top 50 be specific. WashU is definitely a top 50 school. I think Harvey Mudd has an argument to be in.

The schools that I don't believe should be there are Wake Forest, Vassar, Grinnell, Davidson, Colgate, Claremont Mckenna, Bowdoin, and Washington and Lee. Why are these here. Are they there just because they are private and are selective. Thats crap. Put in some more state schools. They are much better than these schools.

Washington and Lee is a very good LAC. Wake Forest, I agree, is a bit overrated.

university of georgia

are you kidding.. bowdoin, davidson, colgate, and w&l defff deserve to be on there.

No they don't. They are not well known in anything.

Bowdoin, Davidson, Washington & Lee, etc are among the most elite LACs in the country and are easily in the top 50 when combining both lists. numberone, what schools would you substitute with them?

aza, georgia is rising but I don't think it would make the list yet.

Purdue, Wisconsin Madison, St. Olaf, Urbana Champaign, Wash U, Rochester,...... see my point. There were a lot left out, and a lot included that shouldn't be. Tell me which ones i listed should not be there.

All of them. Except maybe Rochester. PS: WUSTL is on there.

Whoops, did not see that.
