Top 9% of CA high school class

Hi, I am a current rising senior in the fall. I recently been told by my counselor that I am top 9% of my class. However, my school is getting rid of class ranking in the fall. I noticed that UC colleges look at if you are qualify (ELC). Doesn’t that mean that I can’t qualify for ELC for UC application? Previous students qualified for ELC at my school.

UC ELC does not use the high school’s notion of class rank.

Instead, every few years, the high school submits the enough course/grade records to UC to recalculate weighted-capped GPAs from to determine the top 9% benchmark GPA for the high school. Your UC weighted-capped GPA must meet the benchmark GPA for your high school.

Because UC ELC compares your recalculated GPA against a recalculated GPA benchmark set by a previous class, your current rank may not match your “UC ELC rank”. However, if you can find out what the benchmark GPA is for your high school, you can compare it with your UC recalculated weighted-capped GPA.
