Read the article people - this has nothing to do with affirmative action. The schools are simply trying to make a statement of acceptance by sending delegates to this Campus Pride College Admission Fair. Fair enough - it's just like sending an admissions rep to the college fair at your high school. Thankfully, and as far as we know, gay people won't be receiving any boosts in admission.

Well, if it has nothing to do with AA, then I have no problem with it.

I don't see anything being wrong with a school seeking to admit more gay students.

well, many people seem to have interpreted this article to mean that these schools are simply involved in these recruitment events, but do you think that in turn it would influence their admissions policies to some extent. it makes sense that if they are trying to recruit more LGBT students, that they would seek to diversify their student populations even more by increasing LGBT enrollment

Recruiting gay students would not lead to Affirmative Action because it quite simply doesn't fit AA's definition; sexuality is an aspect independent of educational achievement (whereas the achievement gaps of ethnic groups like Blacks, Hispanics are well-documented), and so most colleges probably have a proportion of gay students similar to the natural proportion in a population.

That's beyond ridiculous.
