What are the best schools for this major?

Thank you for posting this. I'm interested, too. (For my son.) Other than Georgetown, nothing has jumped out at me.

Tufts, Johns Hopkins

Georgetown /American University (D.C)

Johns Hopkins

George Washington

i understand that theese schools (gw, gtown, tufts, john hopkins, american) are all good for internaitonal relations.....but are there any other schools that have a good international relations program that arent one of these schools

Most of the Ivies?

If you're looking for LACs, Claremont McKenna College is excellent.

Macalester (m'not sure)

Georgia Tech

I think these maybe the most valid/credible rankings so far.

Some of these are not official IR majors, but might be PP or PA majors.

What does the % mean by each school in that ranking?

Heck if I know. I was just trying to be helpful. Try Googling Foreign Policy Magazine rankings...?

Oh, you're very helpful. Thanks. I was just curious.

Oh sorry I wasn't trying to be brusque or anything :)

Boston University

Boston University is a wonderful school, for many, many things. However, I would never think of it as a great place to go for International Affairs.

If you're interested in IR, going to school in DC is a distinct advantage. A large percentage of IR students at Georgetown, GW, and American intern part time. Someone going to school in, say, Connecticut might have one or two DC internships, whereas many DC kids will have three. You also get lots of interesting and influential adjunct professors, a good environment for networking, and career centers with the right sort of contacts for IR people.

Besides the three top DC schools, look for schools with strong study abroad and language programs, and dedicated IR majors. Three off the top of my head are Bowdoin, Middlebury, and Macalester (sp?).
