I know northwestern gives $2000 per year..
I'm interested in top schools (top-30) that give at least some amount of money for being national merit finalists and listing them as the first-choice school.

The thread below is a good one. You will need to sift through to look for schools you consider worthy. However, most top schools do not offer much merit money. You might find a school on this list that has a top-ranked program for what you are interested in pursuing.

OP, you can find the complete list of schools that sponsor NM scholarships in the 2011 NM Student Guide, downloadable from the NM website. The guide appears on the right side of your screen anywhere within the NM website aside from the home page.

I’m guessing that you’ve got a list of schools you want to apply to, and you’re looking to see what schools on your list might also give you a little money from NM. After you’ve figured out which schools are possibilities, check with them about the date when you have to declare that they are your first choice. You should ideally be able to find out where you’re accepted before having to declare your first choice.

University of Southern California guarantees a minimum of half tuition plus $1,000 per year to all NMFs who are accepted. Scholarship application deadline is December 1.

I think Rice and WashU also gives about $2000 /yr to NMF’s.

UChicago and Harvey Mudd offer roughly the same money as Rice and WUSTL for NMF.

Vandy gives $5,000 per year to NMFs.
