I am a senior at Moeller High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. I have finally decided on the type of study I want to pursue once I move on to college. If anyone has any knowledge on this subject, could you please give me information on some of the top Sports Administration programs in the country. My SAT score is 1250 and my ACT is 27. I would like to stay relatively close to Ohio but if there is a great school with a good sports business program, I would move farther away. Any information would be greatly appreciated!!

ohio state

Bowling Green also has a decent sports management program. Also, it might be a bit far for you but check out the sports management program at Flagler College in Florida - Flagler is one of the best buys in private education:
http://www.flagler.edu/academics/d_sportmanagement.html

Both Bowling Green and Flagler's programs are accredited by the National Association of Sports Management, but not every program is accredited - here's a link where you can find a list of schools with sports management programs that indicates which are accredited.

Here's a website you might find helpful from the North American Society of Sports Management:

Another one from Sports Link Central:

And the Sports Business Journal:

My son is also thinking about sports management, but not at the undergrad level. Good Luck!

Thank you for the suggestions. I have also heard that Ohio University has a very strong sports administration program. Does anyone have any further knowledge of that?

University of Oregon has a very good program if I'm not mistaken (supported by Phil Knight, alumni and owner of Nike)

Michigan has a sports management program, and its Kinesiology school (which houses it) has been on the move lately. Looks like they're starting to recruit some pretty strong students.

Wow I might have to look into Michigan's program then!

You might want to take a gander at Univ of Ill - Urbana/Champ campus - also Univ of New Hampshire and East Carolina Univ.

Does anyone know the actual rankings for the top sports management programs? I've been looking for the US News Rankings on this but I can not seem to find it.

Michigan's sport management program is becoming selective as well.

previously all you needed to do was get into kinesiology and select sport management.

now you have to apply to the 'second level' of the sport management program after sophomore year... similar to the business school. it obviously isn't as selective but I wouldn't be suprised if it got more and more selective from here on out.

I think this is the first year of the new system.

How high in esteem is Ohio University held in regards to sports management programs??

UMass at Amherst

My cousin got a sports management degree from Clemson, and she got a job from the big wigs at Velocity Sports, which trains athletes (high school to pro). She loved it there.

umass's masters in sports admin is really great.

Any knowledge on Ohio U or Bowling Green?
