Andover says their average GPA of applicants is an A. if you are applying from another tough boarding school or day school, for example, could you still get in if you had a B average (3.3 ish gpa)?

They do take into account what school you come from and how rigorous it is.

yes they do. if they didnt, it wouldnt be fair for kids who work harder

yes, but then that wouldn't be fair to the kids who are going to a school that isn't as hard (the initial reason they would apply).. i think that they look for kids who don't have trouble at their local school so they've turned to boarding school to get a challenge. that's what most schools say on their sites.. they seem to be looking for kids who aren't struggling, who get good grades and have been well-informed, but want a challenge (and thus go to boarding school).

Definitely true, blairt, but don't forget there are plenty of rigourous "feeder" schools, and lots of children are accepted from those. I don't think it would give you a disadvantage to apply from a strong school.

Blairt, part of the beauty of this forum is when those who pay attention realize that the world is not ideal or fair.Getting into a top BS is just like getting into a private club or elite college. You can manage your own grades, ECs,and performance .However,it may just not be in the cards. How you handle that is the true measure of your maturity.

Rumor: from Princeton that AESD have put a 95 percentile floor on all but hooked applicants due to extremely high 2006 scores. This does not seem like realistic information IMO.

what....... ........................... ...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what about a 94... haha, oh well I'm retaking them in a few days anyways

i don't think that's even a rumor.
don't worry, msu. (esp. w/ us, as 11th)

Good job.That was a joke.

um.. all right. that was so pointless then

um, good joke......
