College I want to attend in order of most to least desirable:
Stanford
Rice
Harvard
Columbia
University of Pennsylvania
Princeton
Duke
Washington University in St. Louis
Berkeley
University of Washington
Whitman
Lewis and Clark

Thank you sooooo very much if you actually read all of this and gave me an accurate judging. It really does help quite a bit to have the input of others, especially since many of my colleges seem to have neither rhyme nor reason for selecting their freshman classes. I will gladly chance back if you post the the web address to your post here.

Stellar grades, great ACT score, AMAZING talents, and from Idaho? You have one of the best shots around. Apply early to Stanford and you’ll be okay.

Congratulations on all of your accomplishments! I agree with MarlonBrando, if you have your heart set on Stanford, apply early. Plus it is nonbinding so you can still apply to your other places RD.

I DEFINITELY plan on applying Early Action to Stanford. It’s my top choice school. Which scares me cause I hear the admission process is super random and many well qualified applicants get denied…

White kid from Idaho who has international jump roping skills? You’ll get in anywhere I believe. Honestly a very unique EC especially as a white male from a presumably rural area. And with your other stats, you should be set. Good luck!

Thanks for the replies! Anyone else? I’ll chance you back if you like!

First, one to say that you are a FANTASTIC STUDENT!!! It’s kinda hard to predict your chances at schools like Stanford, Harvard, Columbia, UPenn, and Princeton, but I think you would be an excellent canidate. I think you can definitley get into Whitman, Lewis and Clark, and UW. Here is some advice: Stanford is requiring an interview with an alumni ( so prep for that), spend alot of time on your essay, and continue to work hard. GOOD LUCK!!

Stanford-high reach. However, you showcase a special ability and you are a minority from Idaho, so I would say you have at least a 35% chance.
Rice-match 50%
Harvard-high reach. Same as Stanford.
Columbia-same as Stanford
University of Pennsylvania-low reach 45%
Princeton-high reach; same as Stanford.
Duke-if ED, high match (45%); if RD, mid reach (30%)
Washington University in St. Louis-match 50%
Berkeley-match/high match 60+%
University of Washington-in 80%
Whitman-definitely in. No contest. 90+%
Lewis and Clark: definitely in. No contest. 90+%
Chance me back please?

Stanford-It’s pretty much a reach for everybody. High reach.
Rice-Match
Harvard-High reach
Columbia-High reach
University of Pennsylvania-lower reach
Princeton-High reach
Duke-Lower Reach
Washington University in St. Louis-Match
Berkeley-Match
University of Washington-In
Whitman-In
Lewis and Clark-In

WOW! you are just about the most impressive applicant out there. (shucks you didn’t get a 35 though… soooooooo close by just one pt. but Stanford knows that)

idaho might be more of an advantage applying to east coast schools, but nonetheless, Idaho is still a VERY desirable state. in my opinion, i think that you’ll get into stanford with restrictive early action, and pretty much anywhere you apply so long as you write decent essays. i don’t write this very often on chance threads, i don’t even think i’ve written it ever, but you just might be THE perfect applicant. (in fact a lot of people get angry at me for writing incisive, but nevertheless, true comments about them… congratulations!

chance back
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1168613-chances-congressional-page-columbia-ed-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

Yeah I totally agree. I rarely (maybe once or twice before) wrote that someone had an almost guaranteed shot at the Ivies, but you certainly do! They are matches for you, not reaches. If you are internationally ranked at an activity, Ivies will vie for your application/attendance. They love that stuff. AND your academics are incredible to boot!

Thank you all for your comments! I certainly feel better about applying to some of these schools now. Anyone else, feel free to comment! Or if you want, list any other schools you think would be a good fit for me!

@AnonymousStudent
Thanks for the response. You said it was too bad I didn’t get a 35 ACT. Would it be that lucrative to retake and get a 35? I already took it once before this and got:

Composite - 33
English - 36
Math - 35
Reading - 31
Science - 31

I don’t think it matters (cause most schools don’t superscore the ACT) but if they did, I would have a 35 composite…

Your scores and grades are really good. Your awards and outside activities are interesting. I think you have a good shot at getting in to a top university. At this point, it is up to your essays and teacher reccommmendations.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1169076-please-chance-me-ivy-league-stanford-duke.html</a></p>

If this is all legit, I think you can go anywhere you want.

Once again, thanks for all your ideas :)

oh no, don’t take it again, especially with your composite score, they’ll see all your scores and probably recognize that you basically got a 35, i was just pointing that out. your standardized test scores pales in comparison to the importance of your fantastic ECs.

^ phew, ok good! I did not want to take a standardized test EVER again! And I actually did some research, and it appears Stanford does superscore the ACT.

Anyone else? Haha. Love all this input!

BUMP one more time! Last chance to comment before this thread dies off. Don’t miss the opportunity…
