Top Transfer Friendly engineering colleges in illinois.

Hi, I am a computer engineering major, and since I just arrived at US after graduating high school, so I’m in a community college at this instant, and don’t have any friends. The only way of making tons of new friends and doing well in studies, is by going to a transfer friendly engineering school. And I wanna go in-state, because:

  1. It's too expensive to go out-of-state,
  2. I wanna make friends who I can even hangout with during my summer and winter breaks.

My first choice is UIUC, but what if I do not transfer, so I need some other colleges in the state of Illinois, that are just as good.

I know UIC is great, but I’m going to transfer in my Junior year, so I want to go to a college, where I can easily make friends as a transfer. In UIUC, there are living learning communities, and the six pack itself is also great. So as I’m going to live in residence hall during my junior year as I transfer, so I want colleges which can welcome new transfer students as they do to freshmen. And UIUC does that.

My choices so far are:

  1. UIUC (Excellent so far; 1000+ student organizations. LLC’s (living learning communities), transfers students have to live in residence halls, if there are under 21, which is good. It recommends students to live all 4 years on campus. I can do study abroad as a transfer, and still get the same experience as a freshmen. Weston Hall is a living learning community, which consists of undecided majors, but anyone can join. There are welcome days, which are a week long events for the new students, including transfer students. And the residents of LLC’s arrive two days earlier than the rest, which makes a even stronger bond)
  1. Bradley University. (welcomes transfer students, but the transfer orientation isn't the same as freshmen, but excluding that, is the social life good, and long does the process of meeting and becoming friends with new people as a transfer take? I want to live in residence hall, so can I still do that, as I don't to miss anything? And is it a good engineering college?)
  2. Western Illinois. (guide me, in contrast with UIUC and engineering wise)
  3. Eastern Illinois. (guide me, in contrast with UIUC and engineering wise)
  4. Northwestern Illinois(but they do not have any living options for transfers, as they do for freshmen)
  5. UIC (social life sucks, and the crime rate in residence halls is present.)

On comparing the listed universities with UIUC, which one(s) do you think is great, after UIUC. And which one welcomes transfer students, and is also a good school, which outcomes with great job. Which colleges do you think might benefit me in learning, as well as on making life-long friends? If you have any more colleges to add, so please to so. Thanks.

You do realize UIUC’s residence hall crime rate is higher than UIC’s rate. Most of the crime is stealing especially in the cluster style buildings. In my day, Courtyard had, by far, the highest incidence of crime and also of building damage. Most of it has to do with people not locking their doors. There aren’t any special programs for transfer students except for a one day orientation.

Western and Eastern Illinois Universities are fairly obscure. They are not known for engineering. Western is known for its criminal justice program.

A big issue is your legal status in the U.S. If you are not a citizen or permanent resident, you will not qualify for financial aid.

Both Bradley and Northwestern are private schools and so can be pricey.

My legal status is that I’m a permanent resident. And as far as I am concerned, it’s not with the crime rate, it’s with the social scene in an university. UIUC is friendly and academically outstanding. So is there a university which can relate to that. I don’t care about the crime rate.
