All rates indicated are for 2006-2007 and include dorms on campus/dining

Cal State Fullerton - $14,826
UCSB - $23739
UCSD - $21279
UCR - $22217

I see a rather significant difference. Now i would not be staying in a dorm or have any dining service, but the difference between the 4 schools listed (for housing/dining) with the exception of UCR is $500. So this is obviously not a major factor in the difference between these schools, primarily between the cal state and the 3 UC's. Not to mention that the 2007-2008 year will be rising 2-2.5k per school throughout all the CSU and UC campuses with the CSU's rising on average around 2k and the UC's rising between 2.5k and 3.5k.

I will just say i will not receive any need based aid, i could however receive merit aid or independent scholarship money

But really a 4k difference per year, actually more when considering all costs besides tuition is very significant. Just because the difference is dwarfed by the average price of a private (who tend to be more generous) does not make it insignificant.

It amazes me that people with modest incomes in southern CA with non career jobs (waitressing, security guards, etc) can take out massive loans to pay for a 30k lifted truck which depreciates by 10% the minute they drive it off the lot but sit and talk to me how an education is expensive and isn't that valuable.

And this has to do with what. Does it fit any particular demographic of this site? Obviously the answer would be a stern no.
