Top Universities in North America (2011-2012)

Notre Dame

Most schools only play one BCS school OOC these days.

Yes, Barrons, and I hope you watched that game!

Fwiw, would you think differently if Wisconsin had been on the losing end against a strong opponent and be ranked behind Michigan in the current polls? How would you feel if a good bowl goes to Boise State (or Michigan) based on this year’s schedule and Wisconsin is denied, perhaps with 1 or no losses?

If win out and go to the Rose Bowl or any BCS bowl I’ll be fine. Winning a mythical championship means little to me. If UM wins enough and UW does too we get to settle it on the field in December. I can wait. Current polls are just for debate purposes. UW has a good club with mostly high quality hard-working kids. Few were top national recruits. That’s all I want. Can they beat LSU or Alabama–maybe not. But those teams have more big-time instate talent in a year than Wisconsin produces in 5. That alone is a HUGE advantage. Not to mention some of their other advantages.

“Cannot blame them for borrowing a few pages from Boise State’s playbook. Play nobody all year and the rankings will reward you.”

Enough already Xiggi. Your obsession with anything to do with Michigan is wearing thin. Michigan plays Notre Dame every year. The B10 will have it’s share of tough games ahead for UM. If they lose them, they will drop in the rankings. Next year Michigan will play on the road at Notre Dame, Nebraska, Ohio State, and also Alabama in Texas. There have been many years where Michigan played another strong team in a preconference game besides ND. This year is an anomoly starting with 5 home games. It won’t be happening again for a long time I’m sure.

Rjkofnovi, hold your horses. I answered to a post that said “Paul Bunyan just told me that Michigan is overrated and that Robinson will be exposed come this Saturday!!”

My answer was about THIS year and THIS year’s ranking and … overrating. Forgive me to point out the schools that were on the schedule this year and the five home games.

I’d be happy to applaud Michigan’s success in that tough schedule next year. The schedules are what they are, and the divisions are what they are. We can and SHOULD comment on the strengths of the schedule of a BSU or a TCU and compare it to the SEC, Big 10, Big 12, or PAC 12.

If you want to comment on how Texas looked last week or last year … be my guest. It is what it is. And that is college sports.

Barrons, you never asked me … but I do like Wisconsin’s football team. National championships and Heismann trophies tend to be a sore subject. :)

“Cannot blame them for borrowing a few pages from Boise State’s playbook. Play nobody all year and the rankings will reward you.”

The above statement indicates to me that you felt Michigan schedules weak nonconference teams every year like certain schools. Notre Dame is not ever a “nobody.” Furthermore, to make nasty comments about schools that don’t exist, as well as Division II schools that Michigan would never play, shows a deliberate attempt to denegrate the program to fit your biased agenda.

barrons smartly isn’t commenting on Wisconsin’s preconference schedule. They played four of their first five games at home as well. The fifth being a “road” game at Soldier Field against Northern Illinois Univeristy. Hardly a tough preconference schedule either. Nonetheless, I agree that Wisky is the class of the B10 this year. I hope Michigan gets to play them in December. :-)

Gee, I better buy a bigger briefcase to carry all those agendas. :)
