Torrenting - Private Trackers, Uploading, etc.

Hey guys,

I've read every thread in this discussion regarding torrenting, and could not find an answer recent enough to be considered valid.

I only torrent from private trackers - TL, BTV, etc. Torrenting from these trackers doesn't allow me to be detected by any copyright/RIAA. Will I still get caught by the college torrenting from these private trackers? If so, is it a bandwidth/uploading issue, so should I just watch my speeds? And since these are private trackers, I need to upload to maintain a certain ratio, so how much should I be limiting my upload speeds, if at all? My last option is seedbox + FTP, but seedboxes aren't particularly cheap. I need answers from current students if possible, not anything from more than a few years ago because things may have changed since then.

I don't need any replies along the lines of "Don't do it too risky" without substantial answers/actual experiences regarding my questions.

Thanks!

I read somewhere on CC last year that network admin will be able to tell if your bandwidth is being used by P2P. That’s all I needed to know. However, if you cannot be detected by RIAA/others, then no one will be notifying network admin that what you’re downloading is illegal, so it could work.

That makes sense…thanks for the input. Anyone else have any experience regarding this?

I have heard of some people who use torrents, but most don’t risk it. I can tell you that I’ve downloaded over 30GB through direct download and stream illegal content constantly and I’ve never had a problem.

I’d rather just not deal with torrents… You can download from the internet though
