Hi
My son has been admitted for 2017 fall, with Deans scholarship - in the amount of $12,000 for freshman year &
$ 6,000 per full semester during upper class years while attending classes. For a total of $48k over the course of undergrad years.
Am wondering how much total out-of-pocket will have to be spent in his case now, over his undergrad years?
He is keen on pre-med track with some interest in medical school after - so looking at potentially substantial $$ even after undergrad !
thx

This is essentially a 12K a year scholarship, but because of co-op, they state it that way so you don’t use scholarship eligibility while on co-op. On co-op in a premed related major, you should at least break even on housing/food cost.
Current COA * 1.02 for tuition increases averaged over the 4-5 years you are there * 4 years of classes - $48K =
$207K total cost, assuming no financial aid.
It doesn’t matter how many co-ops he does or when he takes his classes, so long as he only uses 8 total semesters of classes, just like any other school. Summer classes are half the credit and half the cost, and scholarships are used in .5 increments for them.
I am a big advocate for Northeastern, but for premed, cost is important given graduate school and beyond. If money will be an issue at any point, and you have any cheaper options, I would probably recommend them. If this is the cheaper option in comparison to other full pay privates and no cheaper schools are on the table, you’ve got a great option.
Thanks. State schools (we are in CA) are primary option, but NE feels like a very good alternative in the backpocket if needed
