It is a program through the Newcomb Alumnae Association for incoming women students. It pairs them with a local alumnae providing them with a connection in the New Orleans community outside the university. With students traveling an average of 923 miles it is another great support effort that Tulane provides to help with the transition to college life. My D didn’t participate in this but did take part in the Newcomb big sister little sister program.

How was your D experience in BSLS, I’ve never heard about it?

It was simple to join. An email, then a short survey and she was paired with a returning Tulanian. She was happy to make a friend with someone already there. Her big is in the same major, so it gave her additional insight on what to expect. While they stay in touch there was more contact leading up to the move-in.

They really Love being Newcomb Town Moms
