Track at Yale and Harvard

If you're looking for something a little different in your collegiate Track and Field experience, take a look at the blog from this year's Harvard/Yale trip to the British Isles.

For well over 100 years the teams from the US have joined together to compete against Cambridge and Oxford. Every four years, the H/Y team heads across the Atlantic for two weeks for a series of meets. This year's trip includes a stop in Ireland and in Wales, culminating in the meet at Cambridge. The series also has Yale or Harvard hosting every four years, so that the contest is held every two years, alternating sides of the Atlantic. The next US-hosted meet against Cambridge and Oxford will be at Harvard in 2013.

Yes, H and Y pay for the whole trip, and yes, athletes are issued H/Y track uniforms, including a blazer and tie!

What a great experience. From the time of your post, I’m wondering if you are travelling with the team.

FYI -Cornell and Penn’s track teams have a similar program … every four years they send a joint team to England to compete.

Good sleuthing, varska. Cambridge is such a charming city. Gotta say, the Ivies look a bit like unsubtle knock-offs compared to the real thing.
