I have heard in the past that Elon is very big on tracking interest. I toured the campus a couple of weeks ago and emailed my admissions counselor the following day (still haven't gotten a reply). Also, has anyone ever attended the Game Day admissions event? Apparently it's just an admission session followed by a tailgating style party and admission to the football game that night. Is this another good way to show interest? Do they really track you? Thanks!

hiii, they definitely do track interest! If it comes down to you and another possible student, they will check to see who showed more interest… for me, my admissions counselor told me to keep in touch because thats what they want to see…regarding game day, i am not sure but anything that elon puts on for prospective students is another trackable event!

Laughing… Sure they keep track of expressed interest. But so does almost every other school, they just don’t talk about it.

You Do Not - need to attend anything or do anything beyond making sure that admissions knows that you understand what makes Elon unique, that you want to attend, and keep them updated on any changes in your application that make you a desirable applicant. Thats it - Sorry no magic formula.

It is naturally easier to express your desire to attend Elon if you have actually spent some time on campus, but every year hundreds of interesting and involved students are selected because of who they are, not because they majored in interest tracking.

Be interesting, show interest, and do good work. The rest will take care of itself.

Pertaining to game day: I am registered to attend, will be canceling shortly at the advice of their guidance department. This is the schedule they emailed me for the day:

GAME Day at Elon:
12:00 Check In (Moseley Center: Moseley Lobby)
12:45 Welcome (Moseley Center: McKinnon Hall)
1:30 Explore Academics (Locations TBD)
2:15 Campus Tour (Leaving from previous location)
3:15 Views on Diversity (Center for the Arts: TBD)
4:45 Tailgate (Tailgate City)
6:00 Football Game (Rhodes Stadium)

The reason I am canceling is that since I have already visited once they said I would be better off coming a few weeks later when you can sit in on classes and it is a more personal level experience.

You may want to call (or email) your regional counselor and ask if based on your experience from your first visit, if GAME day is the right setting for a 2nd visit.

CarolinaGirl, my daughter, who will be a freshman at Elon this fall (and cannot wait!) attended GAME Day and that is what really sparked her interest in attending the university. My D is Asian American (born in China) and found it really helpful (as did I, her mom) to be able to talk to students of color who have chosen to attend. Everyone was super friendly (students, parents, teachers and administrators) and because of GAME Day, we came back later in the semester for another visit, in which she sat in on some classes and talked to students. Elon definitely seems to appreciate students who have demonstrated their interest in the school: they want the students who attend to WANT to be there and be enthusiastic.
