Transfer 2014

@CeaselessPain, Congratulations!
What do you think were your keys to the successful transfer?

I got in too. Congrats

Rejected. Currently attend community college in Chicago suburbs. Congratulations @CeaselessPain‌ !

@alaink‌ sorry to hear. i go to northwestern.

@colsearch101‌ I was specific. I knew what I wanted, and I knew that Amherst could offer more of it than my current institution does.

FYI: I found a thread on this forum that gives excellent advice on how to frame your “academic need” for transfer applications. I don’t want to disclose the name, because I spent an absurd amount of time on this forum looking for something like it. Those who are diligent will find it. The OP transferred to Harvard some years ago.

Thanks!

A HUGE congrats to @CeaselessPain‌ for securing one of 20 spots that ~400 students were vying for, make it count and dazzle them for the rest of us!
Safe to say, I was not surprised that I got rejected. Not much I can do about that, just have to cross my fingers and hope I land elsewhere, or else make the most of my three years at UofT.
Best of luck to everyone on their next ventures :)

Sorry I am late to the party, I have been spending the last few days low on sleep from the adrenaline and could not get myself to grab my laptop and go near some wifi.

I got in as well. Florida and from a CC. I was completely shocked. I am still sort of recovering from disbelief. The financial aid package is full and complete, as I have no parents to speak of anymore and am entirely on my own without a job, so I’m catching myself nearly in tears seeing that this will pay for everything including the move, room and board, laundry, grooming, food, and everything you can think of.

I want to say I have been haunting College Confidential for some years now and am excited to be “one of those” which I always saw so casually saying “oh yeah, I was accepted too.”

I cannot express how grateful I am as someone with almost nothing. I’m told constantly I worked hard for this and deserve it, but it feels surreal.

I am using wifi at a starbucks so I will post everything I can think of from my application soon if anyone is interested. I don’t know what they liked about it but I can talk about myself on a guess.

The great part was the Director of the Honors College at my two-year institution reminded me that when I first visited her before starting college I asked her what it took to become accepted specifically into Amherst. I am shocked and stoked. This is a dream.

Anyone else who was accepted please PM me. I am very excited as a lowly community college student to meet each and every one of you.

Also accepted. @CoffeeandPeace‌, this very excited (and lowly community college transfer) would love to meet you as well.

@CoffeeandPeace‌ , @CeaselessPain‌ , @bookznhoopz‌ , @Lavenderlane‌ congratulations to all of you! I was also accepted. I’m coming from a community college in Colorado. I was just stumbling about the web when I chanced upon this site and thread. Together we probably comprise around 25% of the incoming transfer class! Crazy!

I know how you feel CoffeeandPeace. For days after I got the letter I honestly felt like I had conned someone or at least they had made a mistake - not the case - I’ll see you all this August.

Hey @Imabathtub and other curious readers; not everyone who was admitted accepted, I will say that I did accept though. I will message you, though, @Imabathtub

I know I’m late, but I got in as well. Looking forward to meeting my fellow transfer students. I’m doing the CEOT LEAP program for orientation. Feel free to message me if you’re in the same group! Have a lovely summer and see you all in August. :D
