I am going to UCLA this year for Aerospace Engineering and I plan to apply to Caltech as a transfer. I am an international student. What are my chances of getting in with:

TOEFL iBt: 110/120

I hope that I will perform well enough at UCLA

I will prepare outstanding essays
I was selected among top 100 students in Indian National Math Olympiad
I will perform extremely good in there entrance examination.

Also applying to MIT, Berkeley and Cornell (Is it worth going to cornell from UCLA).

Thanks

anyone???

If we tell you that your chance of being admitted is 1%, would you still apply? Because if you will, there is not point in asking for chances in the first place. And if you won’t…well…I don’t think Caltech needs people applying that truly believe they can find out their chances from CC.

ok I understand. But answer my last question: Is it worth going to cornell from UCLA?

Well…figure out what you want to do with your life first, if you haven’t done so already. Then look at what UCLA/Cornell have to offer. If you think that UCLA is generally not viewed as “prestigious” as Cornell according to US Rankings, it’s probably a wrong reason to want to transfer. If you think UCLA is too “easy”, finish it in 3 years with 4.0 GPA and then have your pick of grad schools.

If, on other hand, Cornell has some area of research that really interests you and UCLA doesn’t have the same option, and you are really really really sure you want to be doing that exact thing, you might want to consider transferring.

Thanks for the response. Cornell is out of my list.
