I became much more interested in engineering late in my senior year (February) despite always finding a liking for it. Unfortunately, I ended up applying to a lot of liberal arts schools that in hindsight, I just don’t want to go to anymore because I want to go into engineering and they don’t want what I have. It was a stupid mistake.
Anyways, is it possible for fall of my sophomore year to apply to Georgia Tech and still get in? My goal would be to take all of the required classes according to their online breakdown for civil engineering and hopefully get a 3.7-3.8 gpa. Of course I have no idea if this will workout but it’s my dream. So is it possible to get the 30 credit hours needed to apply during the fall of my freshman year then start at Georgia tech the fall of my sophomore year?
Study physics, math and chemistry in your first two years at the liberal arts college and transfer. Pick four to five programs, not just GT. Look at U of Florida, Clemson, and other strong engineering schools with the programs you want. Start to learn about engineering on your own .If you take a math and physics double major at your liberal arts college you can still get a masters in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or other engineering fields. If chemical engineering interests you, be sure to take organic chemistry at your liberal arts college. You can explore careers now, as you study the sciences as those are key to many engineering fields. You may even decide to get a PhD in physics, math or chemistry, instead if it interests you. There are great careers in those fields too and if science interests you.
