Schools:

Harvard -
Yale -
Stanford –
Cornell -

University of Michigan-
Boston University -
Clark University-

University of Denver -
University of new mexico (safety) -

What do you think? Any chance?

Thanks!

The Ivy's plus Stanford, very high reach.
Your SAT score will most likely do you in.

BTW...I'm 16, attended only two years of high school, now a freshmeh at a university and applying to H for 07. I have a 4.0 going into my finals. I recently took the SAT I and scored 2360. I don't have dozens of EC's like so many offer up, but the few that I do have I have been doing for over five years and show a strong passion. No hooks, white, female, strong in sciences.

As far as my chances this year probably a reach. If the GPA holds through next year the odds will go up.

good for you.

the fees to harvard, yale, stanford, and cornell will be donations. I wouldn't recommend applying, though it is always ultimately your decision. Your 3.4 from a CC is going to be up against many with 3.8+ GPAs from 4-year universities, including students applying from other ivies and top schools. Your test scores, while decent, are not in range for the top schools you've listed.

If you want my opinion, your revised list should be more like this:

UMich (reach)
Boston University (high match / low reach)
Clark (match)
UDenver (match)
U New Mexico (safety)

I'll take my chances.
Harvard admissions is a crapshoot. And last I check passion had a lot to do with the admission decision. Already talked to the dean of admissions...told me to raise it to a 3.5. Thanks for the pessimism. I'll use Mr. Fitzsimmons advice instead.

Just giving you honesty. If you want an idea of what students have been accepted to Harvard as transfers, I'd check out the transfer forum on CC and look for the decisions thread. Good luck wherever you apply.

Go for it. What have you got to lose, besides the fee. I mean, if you do get in, the fee will be more than worth it.

Yeah...what's the point of posting a chances thread if you are going to be so defensive about the advice given. Just understand that Brand is right. Most successful applicants from College Confidential (generally the upper echelong of applicants) either came from normal universities with strong GPAs and test scores, elite universities with a strong package or had great ECs.

Based on your profile as a community college applicant (and understanding that URM status would probably matter less as a transfer) with a 3.4 where most successful CC applicants have at least a 3.7+, I don't think your chances look good to the elites.

Look to Brand's suggestions. He looks to be a very promising CC applicant this transfer season.
