I am going to attempt to transfer from Vanderbilt University to Harvard for the fall semester of 2006. I have posted a few questions concerning my transfer chances previously. Does anyone have additional advice? How should I word my essays? What essay topics are the best? What do I need to focus on in my application? I have a 3.96 at Vandy and want to transfer for a variety of social and academic reasons. Thanks for your posts.

Yes, I have advice. Write about what makes you passionate, and incorporate your ECs. If you make the admissions board think, all the better. When you answer a question of "Why Harvard?" do a lot of research first, and mention specific programs and ECs you want to take part in. Well-written is, of course, necessity. Passion and originality backed by specifics is key.

One more point, sound POSITIVE. Don't say "I hate Vanderbilt, b/c yadayadayada." Even mentioning good things about Vandy doesn't hurt. Focus on what Harvard has that you want -if you've visited and talked to people, also mention that.
