Transfer App without science SAT II

Hello all,

I’m currently a freshman engineering student at a mid-level liberal arts school, and am interested in transferring to MIT. Unfortunately, I did not take a science SAT II while applying as a senior (MIT wasn’t on the table, and most places don’t require one), and it may not be possible for me to secure the opportunity to take one before the deadline. I understand that it’s difficult for the school to appraise the capabilities of freshman applicants without such test scores, but given that I have a semester of college grades to show, will they consider an application without it?

For other scores, I have a 760 in Math II, 750 in US History, and a 710 in Spanish SAT II. My SAT I was 800R, 720M, 770W. Additionally, I have a 5 in the following APs: Chem (must’ve been an administrative mistake), Calc AB and BC, US Hist, Spanish, Micro, and Macro. This semester, I earned a 3.7 taking 16 credits, with an A in calc-based physics and a B+ in Calc III.

Is this enough evidence of scientific ability to offset the lack of an SAT score?

Thanks for the help.

P.S. for all the stressed-out high school seniors out there: if you don’t get into your dream school, don’t sweat it. Going somewhere else has been a very valuable experience for me, and changed my perspective on a lot of things. If you’re looking at MIT you’re probably smarter than I was, and will be able to thrive anywhere. Good luck.

No. From the MIT admissions FAQs for transfer applicants (http://mitadmissions.org/apply/transfer/faqs), MIT requires these tests of all undergraduate applicants including transfer applicants. Fortunately, it is entirely possible for a college undergraduate to register for, and to take the SAT II tests (or indeed the SAT I if that is required) while at university.
