Transfer Application Problems

Hi so I am currently a freshman at Baylor University. I just finished my first semester and realized in the past 3 weeks or so that this school just isn't for me and I would like to transfer.

I decided to apply to transfer to a state school here at home (University of Colorado Boulder) and considering I am so early into my college career, I figured I could just use my high school transcript, SAT & ACT scores, and high school teacher recs. Back during my senior year, I applied to CU Boulder and got in easily, but clearly I ended up deciding on Baylor instead.

Anyways, after applying to CU Boulder this past week, I got an email from my admissions counselor there saying that they need my Baylor first semester transcripts because my high school grades showed a "downward trend" near the end of my high school career, so they can't make a final decision yet. I'm confused because when I applied to CU last year, I was still in the middle of my senior year and had a 2.8 GPA and got in, but I recall quite vividly that by graduation, I graduated with 3.4 GPA for my second semester of senior year and the only grades below a B I had were AP Biology (a 79) and Intro to Calculus (a 74), all of my other grades were A's and one high B (88).
I sent my Baylor transcript to CU with my final first semester grades but i'm honestly terrified because I actually failed a Business Calculus class and overall my gpa was very mediocre, (primarily due to me getting pretty cocky early on in the semester thinking college would be a breeze and didn't think I needed to go in for office hours ever).

So now i'm lost and very worried because I feel I wont get into a school I got into before and will have to spend another semester at Baylor. Not only that, i'm also confused as to why suddenly the admissions committee at CU Boulder believes my senior year grades showed a downward trend when I in fact received higher marks. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

(Cliff Notes Version)
-Senior year i applied to CU Boulder and got in. Decided to go to Baylor University instead.
-End of my first semester at Baylor and I really wish I would've just gone to CU, I want to transfer for the spring.
-Get an email from CU admissions office saying that my senior year grades showed a "downward trend" so they need my first semester Baylor grades.
-Last I remember, my senior year grades improved significantly.
-Sent in my Baylor transcript but I failed a class and now i'm afraid that'll destroy any chance of me getting accepted as a transfer for the spring.
-Advice?

Haha, thanks for the Cliff Notes version!

How are your grades other than the failed Business Calculus class? Is the class crucial to your prospective major? Those are things to consider. Also, do you know a Professor or TA from Baylor that you could list as an academic reference to prove that you can thrive in a college environment?

Now, if you really dislike Baylor, and you don’t get into CU Boulder, I would consider attending community college for a semester or two, and use this as an opportunity to improve your academic record. This is especially important if your state’s community colleges have articulation agreements and/or guaranteed admissions programs with CU Boulder.
