This might be a dumb question, but while I was going through the coalition app I realized there was no part for a transfer essay. Does U Maryland not require a transfer essay or is there somewhere else I need to go to submit it?
Thank you very much for all of your help!
It’s not required, but there should be a page that says uploads after application questions.
@adorse26 Would it make my application less competitive if there isn’t one? Or would uploading an essay about why I want to transfer in the uploads page make it more competitive?
@transfer28743 I believe it would be more competitive if you have an essay. I was told it is recommended that you have an essay. I wrote about it not having been my first time transferring, why I didn’t attend Umd when I was admitted the first time, and that I had been through depression. I think it helped show why I had gaps in my education, why I wanted to go to umd now, and that I wanted to take my education seriously.
@adorse26 oh okay great thank you! Any chance you know if there is a word or page limit to the essay?
@transfer28743 I found the response that I was give:
Please describe your past academic experiences and your reasons for wishing to enroll to Maryland at this point in your academic career. Students who have been out of school for several years, or who have a personal circumstance that affected performance, may wish to address that situation in their essay. Your essay should be no more than 300 words.
@adorse26 Thank you so much! You were a tremendous help.
