Hi
I am currently a Freshman in a four-year state college. Currently in Business major.
The current school is around 100 in the US news rank. The problem is I want to transfer to top 60 colleges.
My first semester GPA was 3.57/4.0. Phew, that was close. I don’t want to go back then.
It was not fun because at the same time I had to deal with other problems in life such as a mean+antisocial roommate.
Yeah, it was not like “all you need to do is to try hard, everything else is all set”.
That GPA is from 15hour credits. I am planning to take the max 18 hours credits next semester.
My question is would it be waste of time to take History 101, Geography 100 courses in terms of profile? (I meant it won’t really impress top 60 school admissions people).it can be seem like filling in the maximum with easy classes.
I am going to apply for fall 2020(Junior) so I guess I don’t have lot of time.
Should I take more rigorous courses instead? Is it a common sense to avoid taking easy courses?
Is my hyphothesis right?
Even for Business with a 3.6+/4.0 you should be in fairly good stead for most top 60 business schools e.g. Penn State’s Smeal, Indiana’s Kelley etc.
Course-wise, just make sure to fulfill business major requirements in the schools you want to transfer to. Beyond that, they won’t really care.
Do most applicants focus on getting 3.6+ and take minimum number of classes?
Our school is one of the colleges where core courses are designed to get A as diffucult as possible.
Those top60 schools wanted lots of Gen ed courses done.
@Fonz93 can you clarify your last comment so maybe i can help you a little bit more
They want me to take Humanities and Natural science as part of suggested courses
