*Transfer Brown 2017*

I think it’s just been @Lauren1998 whose been able to access Canvas. Which is weird because she can’t access the workday app b/c it requires a Browm email, but seemingly all widgets on that page require a brown email. Weird

Wait never mind. Crap, I hope this isn’t an indicator. I’ll be bummed.

same man, lets just wait for the official decision…

I think it might just be a glitch but I’ll let you all know whether or not it is after decisions!

@Lauren1998 it would be “FIRSTNAME_LASTNAME@brown.edu” and you would log into gmail with it.

This kinda brings me down lol. Few spots this year and less financial for transfer too (concerning since I applied for FA).

Interestingly this is their lowest record acceptance rate (8.3%)…perhaps they’re looking for a larger transfer body?

sign

I’m looking way too much into this…

can someone either confirm or rebut this canvas thing bc i am quite emo rn. smh. i just !! need!! to !! know!!!

so i was looking through the transfer thread from 2016 and someone mentioned that 2,919 freshmen were accepted and only 8.29% of transfers were admitted that same year. if there were less freshmen accepted this year (2,722) wouldn’t that mean that the number of transfers they admit will go up?

in 2015, brown accepted 2,590 freshmen and the acceptance rate for transfers was 16.7%. so maybe because this year the number of freshmen admitted is somewhere in between the two years, the transfer acceptance right might be somewhere in the middle of 8.29% and 16.7%? potentially hovering around 12.5%?

i might be completely delusional though and should probably stop overanalyzing this lol. college confidential really brings out my inner detective.

^that’s likely to happen. does the number of student remain constant over the years? if yes, then your theory may work

@madisonj643 what do you mean by number of students? do you mean the number of students enrolled at brown over the years?

also i doubt the canvas thing is valid. according to previous years’ threads, it doesn’t mean anything (a bunch people who were accepted, rejected and waitlisted could access it rather than only accepted/waitlisted people). however, towards the end of april and in the beginning of may a lot of people reported various changes in their portals so i think its too early to spot potential indicators right now

To add to the above, I doubt they’ve finished with transfer apps. It’s only April 14th. Decisions aren’t released for almost another month.

@as2581 yea. if its growing and at the same time, the number of undergraduate acceptance getting lower, then i believe there’s a chance for transfer pool to get bigger

Has anyone gotten the “click here for decision” button? I got it today on mine, but it just tells me that the answer will be emailed.

Yeah for me it’s been there for over a month but it always says to come back when my decision is ready

Well, that one has been on mine for a month as well. I’m talking about another button (not link) that’s in the Application Summary. It says “Decision:” and then it has a button to the right side that says “click here”.

Mine doesn’t have that yet. Good luck!

mine has that button as well, but obviously no decision is actually posted. They most likely havent even made decisions yet as results arent being released for another month.

@sirlance I believe @juliar95 is talking about that button. I posted a while back in regards to it showing up (and me having a heart attack when it did).

Here is what mine saids:

"April 18, 2017

NAME

Dear NAME,

Admission decisions are currently not available. Check the Undergraduate Admission web site for specific dates and times.

The Board of Admission"

Nothing about emailing…Could you please copy and paste your message?

@RickMedeiros yeah that’s what mine says!
