Damn, all of this indication made me anxious as hell

Haha, that’s why I didn’t really want to post anything, we are all making each other anxious

i just want it to be may already, man.

How would you guys celebrate? I’m not a vocal person, so I’d probably just sit in my dorm and be dazzled. Probably I’d just have a nice big fast food feast and hit the liquor store at night. :stuck_out_tongue:

@MysteriousDude buy 100 burgers and share them to the poor

@MysteriousDude I feel that. Would prob hit the liquor store during the day tho and get quite belligerent. Esp. considering the last day of classes is around the release date

Hello, everyone!
I’m new here. A transfer applicant from Santa Monica College, a CC in LA that’s known for being the “#1 transfer school for the UC system.” I’ve already submitted my Brown application, but I’m starting to worry about my changes…

My info:
HS GPA: 3.2 (I explain this in my essay … lower GPA was due to severe health issues that have resolved).
CC GPA: 3.85 (mostly As, occasional/one or two Bs).
ECs: Mostly leadership related. Attended one college prior to my current CC, also in LA, that had dorms (interesting, I know). I was an RA for the dorms. I know, I know, I was the enemy!! But, in all fairness, I never had to “write up” anyone and took the job for the leadership cultivation, event programming, and meal plan/pay. I was also a member of RHA, a club heavily involved in residential life and student government. I was also a class note-taker for students with disabilities for three of my classes. The rest of my ECs are volunteer based (5+ years), internship based (3 internships completed thus far), and art based (have been playing piano and singing since the age of 4, was accepted into a prestigious (I hate that term) summer academy for both)).

My problem, honestly, comes with my SAT/ACT scores. My HS didn’t include class ranks, didn’t offer AP courses, and didn’t offer IB courses. The only true way to set yourself apart from everyone else was through ECs and SAT scores. Because of my health issues, however, sitting through the SAT/ACT was really difficult. My English ACT score is a 34 and my Reading ACT score is a 31, both scores I’m proud of. But my Math score? A 22. Which I KNOW is NOT competitive.

Since I’m coming from a CC after two years of study, one would think my ACT scores don’t accurately reflect who I am now and what I’m capable of. I’ve been in college for two years now and am consistently getting As! But I know Brown does consider standardized testing in their application process, which is a bummer.

I was excited when I learned that CC students aren’t required to submit test scores, but now I’m just worried considering Brown has stated that 3 or fewer CC students who haven’t submitted test scores are accepted each year. So, should I send my scores now even though I have a low math score, one that isn’t even within the 25th percentile? Or will it not matter, considering my major is Literature and my English scores are within the right range? Ugh. It’s all so stressful!!!

All advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Also, just to make clear:

Current mid-term GPA: 4.00 (all As, five courses).

** My HS did NOT offer AP courses, IB courses, and did not rank students. There were honors courses which I took (about 4 or 5). Despite this, my HS was an “elite” private school in LA that my parents worked hard to get me into, and many students got into great colleges (some ivies, though not many).

Sorry, for some reason my original post didn’t save / post correctly. I’m new here! So the above comment isn’t going to make sense and isn’t really related to this post anymore. You can disregard it.

I’ve completed and submitted my transfer application already and am coming from a CC. Due to this, I thought it would be fine not to send my ACT scores. I got a 34 English score and a 31 Reading score, which I’m proud of, but a 22 Math score… Which is NOT competitive at ALL, I know. It’s not even 25th percentile. I had severe health issues in HS (which I talk about in my application) that really hindered my ability to sit through the ACT more than once, so I wasn’t able to raise my 22.

My major isn’t math related, however. I’m actually a Literature major… So, the English scores should matter more, right? Should I send my scores in? I saw that 3 or fewer CC students get into Brown each year without sending in ACT/SAT scores and I want my chances to be as high as they can be. I would really hate for my application to be tarnished by my low math score.

My application is otherwise very strong. I worked really, really hard on my essays and used a great amount of time and energy to craft them. My ECs are strong as well. I’ve been in college for two years now and have a 3.85 GPA. My current mid-term GPA is a 4.00 (five As). I have very strong letters of rec.

Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated! Thanks

@thegreylady have you taken any math courses in high school? maybe if you did well in those then admissions will see not a low math sat score but your efforts to improve your math skills.

Quoting from a previous post:

"I don’t your situation entirely but from the Brown admissions website:

“Brown requires that transfer applicants submit the results of either the SAT or the ACT when they apply. This applies to both domestic and international applicants. Only one group of applicants are permitted to apply without submitting SAT or ACT scores: American citizens or U.S. permanent residents applying from domestic community colleges, junior colleges or two-year colleges.”

Therefore, unless you are coming from something like a community college and a legal resident of the USA, you are REQUIRED to submit test scores. If you cannot submit those test scores because you are international and it is not offered in your area then you REQUIRED to submit TOEFL or the IELTS:

" If you are applying to Brown from a country that does not provide access to SAT or ACT testing centers then you are required to submit the results of the TOEFL or the IELTS when you apply."

So if you fall into the category of not being required to submit then you will be fine. However, it is recommended that you submit them anyways:

“Although domestic applicants from community colleges, junior colleges and two-year colleges are allowed to apply without submitting SAT or ACT results, these applicants fare better in our admission process if they do submit the results of those tests. Per year Brown typically admits three or fewer transfer applicants who have not submitted the results of either the SAT or the ACT.”"

Honestly, I’d submit them. Think about it 3/200 get in without submitting their scores…thats 0.12% acceptance instead almost 9% acceptance.

did you guys submit the final school report? I’m still debating whether or not i should send it. Unsure if it will help or hurt my app…

have any of you heard of brown rescinding transfer acceptances because of slight gpa drop of .3 or .4 from Midterm report? No B’s but a few B+'s in the final winter transcript after straight A’s in the Midterm report.

@docus1234 Unless what you are saying is coming from a valid source I highly doubt that is true. It seems very unlikely that they would take back a transfer acceptances for a drop in gap that is less than .5

I agree with @terr24lr That is very very unlikely.
Normally rescinds happen bc of major grade drops like all Cs or failing or like suspensions/arrests

Ok thanks a lot @terr24lr and @VaishS. I hadn’t heard much… just got curious (and of course a bit worried) as my prospective grades fell.

Same here, this semester isn’t going that great for me either. Expecting A, B, B, C (might drop to a D…); I read online on various places that colleges in general don’t rescind you instantly but will definitely ask for some sort of explanation.

so… should we say the countdown is currently at 15 day, 23 hours, 20 mins, and 45 secs ? (12:39Am currently) … not that I’m keeping count!

What do you base that countdown on if I may ask? Is there already a concrete decision release date?
