@1college123 Correct. This is my first Application to Brown
@RickMedeiros so what would TR mean under admissions type?
@RickMedeiros I guess admt for “admission type” would make more sense than “admit.” At first I thought styp was the type.
@1college123 Transfer, perhaps?
@OptimisticBrownTransfer yup makes sense
Well that was a fun collaborative project.
so… are we any closer to getting decisions from this?
@1college123 Not a single conspiracy theory in this form has brought us closer to knowing admissions lol…Still fun to think about - managed to kill 1 hour of boredom here lol
lol y’all need to stop and hope that the trend of accepting 200+ students instead of 100 is a biennial one (2015 AND 2017???) : ) )
@Ishouldliveinslt If we compare previous data and they stay fairly consistent - This year should be around 12% - 16%…
@Ishouldliveinslt They admitted 200 less students in the freshman class this year…
So that’s good for us, right?
@MysteriousDude 200 more spots now open only for Transfers!
@RickMedeiros the number of admitted transfers is the important variable, not the percent, because transfer admissions is determined by how many spaces they have available, regardless of how many people apply. And:
Number admitted (fall & spring combined)
2014: 165
2015: 286
2016: 152
so hopefully this year too they’ll have an extra 100+ spaces lying around for us!
The difference in # of freshmen admitted is probably because they predicted a slightly higher freshman yield this year, I don’t think that should have much of an affect on us (the enrolling size of the freshman class will probably end up being the same as last year’s).
@aftfl12 yeah i didn’t apply for FA or submit any type of financial documents and have the FA option available to me. don’t stress yourself out though, nothing is really known right now tbh.
@bradthegrad2019
I agree that pi_appno is how many times you applied
i don’t see any of these other codes, just the “P_” thing that was talked about earlier and then the appno=2" (this is in fact my second time applying).
@nottodaycc you’re probably looking at the URL. The other codes are there when you right click on the button and inspect element.
@OptimisticBrownTransfer you’re right, my bad. opened it up on chrome and found what you guys are talking about.
@Ishouldliveinslt Elaborate more on freshman yield…The percentage of those admitted vs enrolled has been consistently around 54 - 56%
https://www.brown.edu/admission/undergraduate/explore/admission-facts
NOTE: I’m using the Volume of Applications in the bottom of the web page. Then taking the ratio between enrolled vs accepted. Likewise, notice how this ratio has not changed for almost a decade. If this ratio is consistent this year there will be 100+ fewer freshman this year (Apologizes on being incorrect in the previous post).
If by yield you mean number of applicants, this year saw the largest number of application (400+ more applicants than the previous largest applicant pool - last year), yet they reduced their admissions from 9% to 8.3%.
Previous links…
This is why I believe they may be preparing to admit a larger transfer this year: This year WILL see fewer incoming freshman and therefore WILL “have an extra 100+ spaces lying around.”
Maybe my conspiracy theory is true, or perhaps they need to reduce the amount of students they have in college. Anyways, I really need to find a hobby lol
you guys are truly detectives, lmao.
