*Transfer Brown 2017*

@aftfl12 nope, we had a bunchhhhh of theories and such but none of them were validated

…Change from fall to spring?

some people who were accepted for spring noticed that their portal changed from fall to spring a few days or so before decisions came out

Does anyone know the statistics on how many people get accepted for Spring versus how many get accepted for the Fall?

@lexluther96 @VaishS I found another site that has all current undergraduate and graduate students along with staff. Where this gets weird is that some of the people showing up on the wiki are grad students, some undergrads, some professors, and a ton don’t show up at all! Also, I added up the “applicants” on the wiki, or the ones without emails and I only added up 421…aren’t there normally 2,000 applicants? Found that weird…any thoughts? Maybe it is only those that have logged into the site before? But it doesn’t make too much sense to me…you would think everyone would have used a wiki site before for those on campus…correct?

@HopefulCollege95 Based on my understanding, incoming sophomores often get admitted for spring and juniors for fall. But there are also some accepted sophomores that are fall admits. Don’t know exact stats, though.

@actsat21 Thanks for counting all of them! That’s weird that there are only 421. The Brown website states that they only accept 100–200 per year though, so I don’t know what that means. If there were 2,000 applicants, I doubt that only 421 of us accessed our portals.

Has everyone been able to find themselves on the wiki page? (I posted the link earlier in the thread.)*

@lexluther96 I’m thinking it may be that specific wiki. Like if someone who hasn’t logged in sends you their name it won’t show up but those that explored and have logged into that specific wiki do show up.

Hmm. Well, someone who hasn’t logged in, send me your name! Lol.

…But I mean are 421 others really as crazy of us? There are only like 20 of us even on here. Do you think that many people are also trying to break through the Brown portals? Loll.

Also, my friends who applied in high school (and were rejected) are not listed there.

their transfer admission percentages seem to fluctuate pretty drastically semester-to-semester.
2014: 9.20%
2015: 16.70%
2016: 8.29%
that could be a consequence of a multitude of factors but I’m gonna choose to believe that there is a pattern and 16% of applicants are gonna be admitted this year! If anyone shuts that theory down then you’re a bad person, just saying.

^ Does anyone have any reasoning on why that could be?

I can’t imagine that they simply abandoned their admission standards for that particular year. It could just be an anomaly, maybe for some reason fewer “reach” students applied to brown causing some artificial jump in the admission percentage.

also @VaishS hey from the vandy thread!

@fugazinikka Or maybe that had an abnormal freshman/sophomore drop out rate so there were more spots to fill that year

Maybe less people applied so the % was larger even though they accepted the same amount

I believe it has to do with their freshmen matriculation and how many students leave. They have a certain number of students they can maintain, which includes a small number of reserved transfer spots and filling in those freshmen transfers and drop outs.

More transfers out of Brown = More accepts into Brown

I am so freaking nervous.

I am able to access my canvas account but it obviously doesn’t have any courses listed or anything like that @lexluther96

@Lauren1998 you can access your brown canvas? damn i cant… this made me so freakin nervous…
